How to achieve light airy yet cozy feel that's not southern or farmhouse. I like style similar to what I see in nashville a touch of velvet or leathee but also like coastal vibes for light staycation feel. We just built modest transitional home with open floor plan in a suburban GA town.

From your idea books I would say you like classic style as for the leather or velvet that can be a choice in calssic all the time I find the pic quite distorted as to actual sixe so maybe anoter taken with a normal view

Velvet + leather + coastal vibes will not be easy to combine. On top of that…the kitchen/dining and adjoining rooms need to flow. Layout also has to be figured out. Are you interested in hiring an interior decorator and if so, review their portfolios to be sure you will connect.

If doing on your own, pour over on line inspiration rooms and maybe go to open houses and model homes. I’d start with a color scheme and buy the couch (maybe velvet) and add leather occasional chairs. This will drive many decisions, including kitchen and dining room choices. You can add some coastal influence with art.
