Sheila,
Sorry about the DM….I am glad to see your other roses are beautiful & healthy.
Carol,
Thank you! I was surprised to see so many buds! The roses out in my garden are very healthy!
Today I received 2 roses recently ordered:
Blushing Parasol, from A&A-Eufloria potted roses, came with stick in box and rose stayed well in place. No broken canes-great! Healthy! I watered & set her on porch. I’ll give her a week on porch to acclimate then plant her.
Yves Chocolate Romantica was delivered today from Highgarden Roses & I potted her today. She is about 1 year old from cane appearance & healthy.Chocolate Romantica in middle front
Jubilee Celebration bud was cut off by gardener. I popped her in a crystal bowl of water yesterday & today she blooms!Peachy pink surprise! Pretty!

Elena - thanks! I'll write it down in my book. But, as of now, I hope not to have to spray anymore. I may do what Sheila does. But, if a lot of my roses get DM, then I'll buy that product. Thank you!!

Original Author3 days agoHere's a question. In September (when I don't have very many roses), I want to have rose petals to decorate the wedding vows area at my daughter's wedding and to toss around. Should I bring the petals in containers, or should I bring actual roses and remove the petals there? I googled and if I remove the petals at home, I need to put them in a container with a damp paper towel. Thanks. :)

Carol,
Congrats again on Kedra’s wedding.
A wedding can be very busy at last minute. i would prepare as much ahead of time as possible before arrival including removing petals and put in a bowl. Keep in-fridge over night and bring w/ wet towel to wedding next day. Thank you about my BP & JC.
I have deliveries yesterday and there was a huge rainy thunder storm. I heard that a hour from me there was hail the size of golf balls, winds 60 mph, and flooding. Rain came down 30 minutes away from my home in buckets on the car. At my house it was lighter rain-for 7 hrs.- but at least lighter -Yay! Ny tosrs are ok. Very grateful! It was a hot sunny day beforehand 80F. I had summer clothes in, but then my jacket & umbrella. Lol!
Today is 74F milder, Perfect!
I have gardening must do this morning….
Have a beautiful day! I have much to do as I’m having a guest in 2 weeks. Today remove weeds & spray all beds. I’m going to do a little each day until done with all preparations. .
Elena,
i looked at the fungicide you recommend. I’m Intrigued.! It says ”it cures as well as prevents fungus.” I have not seen a curative for fungus on the market, ever. Have you tried it before? Do you have much fungus and humidity? Thank you for your recommendation. Diaconil was recommended by ARS which I use diluted with water so it sorays thinly on roses slightly milky white. Antique Rose Emporium & another nursery uses iDiaconil, too.
Carol,
I believe your sorayer was clogged due to not diluting it and creating a thick splatter issue. Sorry you got sorayed, too. Mix it in another clean sprayer next time, follow diluting directions-it’s about a teaspoon to a sorayer full of water. Should be thin slight white spray. Lasts me a couple years the concentrated bottle of Diaconil. Best wishes next time for spraying. May wash plant off once a week-it doesnt need that much white spray. Always read labels to your fertiluzers & sorays from now on, ok? 😊😇😊🌺🌸🌹🌷😊🥀
Carol and Elena,
Lovely day! How is your sunshine and temps and are your gardens blooming well!? I have had a burst of blooms daily now….

I am feeling overwhelmed! The weeds are never ending. I get a bed weeded and turn my back to work a different bed and the weeds are back with a vengance. It looks like all of my beds need compost and bythe time I water it is blazing hot.
My neighbors on the other side just sold their house so I will have new neighbors on both sides. The one inthe flip house let me lnow that he is not a yard guy so his yard is crazy with weeds. It sure would have been fun to have gotten a garden friend.

Kitty, yes, I’ve used Infinito before and previously used Previcur Energy as well. Both are systemic fungicides and moderately safe for bees. Daconil, on the other hand, has been banned in Europe due to its environmental impact.
Kristine, never seen Myabi this colour yet.
PS. Kristine, please do not hate me, I do not have weeds at all. At least one advantage of small yard. :)

Original Author3 days agoKitty - thanks, Kitty about Kedra's wedding. :) And, thanks for the advice about the rose petals. Wow!! That was some severe weather; thankfully, your house escaped the worst of it. I'm glad that your roses are okay!! Yes, 74F is perfect weather. We're about the same 25C/77F. We've got smoke, though. We're at a 5 level out of 10 for smoke, which isn't terrible, but Don left the window open all night, and now I have a bit of a sore throat. I'll have to stay away from the hospital in case it's a sore throat from being sick, which I doubt. Hmmm... ;) I wonder who your guest might be. You don't have to respond to that. lol I think I'm done with spraying, unless things get dire here. The white spray won't come off the rose canes. What a mess I made. Yes, I'll do better next time. :)
Kristine - Ugh, weeds. Thankfully, I have a small garden bed. But, still, it's annoying to have so many weeds. Darn about your never ending weeds. Yes, I have a neighbor whose yard is filled with weeds, and we've been getting thistles coming from their yard for years. I detest their yard. Hopefully, the new neighbor will be a gardener who you can bond with. :) :) At least you have your gorgeous roses. :) :) Mmmmm...your Miyabi rose is wonderful!!! I love your roses so much! Do you know the name of the weed (sorry, lol) to the lower right of your beautiful All American Magic bloom? I get those everywhere in the rocks bordering the lawn.
Elena - Eeek!! I didn't know that Daconil has been banned in Europe. I won't use it anymore. I wonder how I should dispose of it. Garbage bag and put it in the dump or take it to an eco station? No weeds? At all? My goodness, you live in paradise. :)- 3 days agolast modified: 3 days ago

Kristine,
How has your True Bloom True Love fared? Mine is doing phenomenally. Since I planted two bushes in the same hole, just about having their crowns touching each other, before they grow into each other, I plan to move one of them. Best time to do this late winter in early March, 2026, while asleep.
Two bushes in the same hole with True Love is entirely unnecessary! It is super vigorous for me....unbelievably so!

Moses - that's so good to hear. :) :)
I was so sick of looking at my ghost rose (the one I coated with Daconil) that I cut it right down and moved it to a less visible spot. :) :) It was that or toss it, which I didn't want to do. One of my Morden Sunrise plants (they're still really small) has a bud! I'm excited to see it. :) :)- 2 days agolast modified: 2 days ago

Kristine,
Sorry about the weeds…. I clean ’em out every week, too. beautiful Miyabi! Love all American Magic-so colorful!
Carol,
Maybe try AC to purify the house air. Try honey tea for your soar throat. I hope you feel better. 77F is nice and I hope you can enjoy it without smoke. (I know your ghost rose must have been a sight, sorry, bye bye, as you cut it off. Give it some fish fertilizer-it will come back eventually.) Original Author2 days agoKitty - My throat is feeling better now, even though I was outside for most of the day. Thanks for your kindness. :) :) Yes, I'm sure La Fontaine aux Perles will come back...it's a very vigorous rose.. I'm too selfish to share my strawberries with the dogs. Lucky Anastasia! They do get some of my morning porridge and blueberries. :) Those peonies are ambrosia and beyond!!! EXQUISITE!!!! That must have been amazing to see. :) :) Thanks so much for the pictures!! Your Miyabi, like you said, has a big color change...and every phase is so beautiful!!!! :) :)
So, Don was saying, "You know, you have some empty pots (roses had died)...why don't you go to the Heirloom website and order some more?" EEEeeeeeee!!!! I thought I was being sensible by not ordering more now. So, I ordered Well Being, Rose Rhapsody, and Amazing Grace!!!! So much fun!!!!! I had never heard of Rose Rhapsody before. :) :)
These awful creeping bellflowers...I have to weed twice/day because they grow so fast. They are low to the ground (can't pull them out then, you don't get the root), and then, POOF, they grow. I don't want them to flower (which was the original mistake I made...for two years, ugh).
I've been finding that if I water some varieties of roses every day, it helps with the powdery mildew...I'm looking, especially, at you, Rouge Royale!! I'm excited about this. It's helping!! RR (and others) are growing fresh leaves, and they're staying nice. :) :)- 2 days agolast modified: 2 days ago
Carol,
Wonderful that your throat is feeling better. I hope the smoke situation is improving. I am thinking that it’s sunnier & drier now and the fungus will be gone. Roses do grow well w/ water and sun! They are growing new foliage free of fungus-must be great weather now! I’m so glad it is improving for you! Me, too. iIt’s so much sunnier that my rioses love it. Your dogs eat porridge & blueberries! Lucky happy dogs! Lol! The peony fields are amazing! Thank you regarding Miyabi-she’s a big vigorous bloomer in any color
I can’t believe Don is encouaging you to buy more roses! Now that’s a great hubby! I see gorgeous citrus-licorice scented Well-being and Rose Rhapsody are both super fragrant! And Amazing Grace is the Queen of roses-she can have the largest blooms ever when mature and amazing fragrance-what a beauty! Those are 3 awesome roses! Amazing Grace is my fave!

Carol, your Don is the best. I mostly just hope my partner turns a blind eye to my plant shenanigans. ;) I love Amazing Grace. I used to grow it, and the scent was divine. It ultimately wasn't happy indoors, and I had issues with the buds not wanting to open, but I can hardly blame a rose for not wanting to be indoors! Here's one of its big fluffy blooms from when I had it.
How lovely that your daughter will have your homegrown rose petals at her wedding!Kitty -- So many beautiful blooms in your garden right now!
Socal -- I love that dark plummy poppy.
Sheila -- I thought of you and all of your wonderful rugosas when I saw these in the park earlier this week. There are a ton of them growing in a big circular bed, and they've been there all the years I've lived here, but I've never given them much attention. They get pruned down to the ground each spring (I'm not sure why), but they are already looking quite shrubby. Scent is lovely. As you can see, they have to complete with a lot of weeds and grasses (but also some milkweed that the butterflies will appreciate).
I miss Diane and hope she's well.

Original Author2 days agoKitty - So, I mistakenly thought I had 3 extra pots. Turns out I have two. But, I have 3 roses coming. So I bought a unit (which is 2 pots) from Wayfair online, and now, I'll have an extra pot. Sooooo.... No, lol, I don't have room in the yard (the roses follow the curve in the lawn) in sunny areas for more roses. I'll use that pot for another tomato plant. I'll soon have 58 roses, which is the most I've ever had! Ooooh...you really like Amazing Grace? Excellent!! I think the one I'm most interested in is Rose Rhapsody. I read these on hmf:
I live in the San Diego coastal area and have two Rose Rhapsodies. They are - in my opinion - the most perfect rose (and I have tried many!). Total desease-resistant, no aphids, no mildew, single buds on long and strong stems, overwhelming fragrance, and blooming from end-February until after Christmas. I was looking desperately for three more, but Jackson & Perkins is telling me that they have not produced this rose for the last two years...
March 4, 2004 - Dr. Ed CooperREPLYReply #1 of 7 posted 14 SEP 04 by Unregistered Guest
This is uncanny, because the wail of frustration from Dr Cooper precisely echoes my own predicatment. I live in the Berkeley Hills, where it has been an unusually foggy, chilly summer. I own two bushes of Rose Rhapsody - in a large rose garden, with many competitors - and this rose has been faultless, producing plentiful, gorgeous, disease-free flowers in ANY weather, cool or hot, wet or dry. Please, if anyone can find out where to order 3 more bushes, I would be SO grateful -- Thanks, Meredith MarshYes, Don is a great husband. :) :)
Kitty - your roses are wonderful!!! :) :) Your John Davis will soon outgrow the width of that trellis. Very lovely! You're making me so excited to see my La Reine bloom!! Yours is beautiful!!! Beautiful burgandy poppy!! Love her! Name? Most hardy disease resistant?
Eisvogel best disease resistant-none and and she blooms in a day or today-super vigorous-hardy.
Pas de Deux excellent disease resistant-vigirous-gardyhardy-prolific bloomer!
Miyabi biggest-vigorous-medium disease resistant.
MW-A David Austin, Attracts bs-but she’s so lovely!
Yves Cantina, super hardy, maybe vigorous, medium disease resistant.
Cartonnage, very prolific bloomer, hardy, disease resistant, vigorous, but climbs a little flpooy-loce her next to an obelisk/trellis!!
Mme Dubost, Mme Pereirre & Yolande decAragon are the most elegant OGR bloomers I have ever seen & super frafrant! Big plump blooms! La Reine & Louise Odier, too! All medium disease resustant. MIP & Louise Odier are most orolific bloomers; however, theyvall have tons of blooms & repeat!!! The best OGRs!
The rest of the florist rises are medium disease resistant-I don’t mind in my climate. They have strong floral stems for vases and very unusually elegant blooms. You have to see them in oerson to notice the difference from garden roses. They are exquisite!
Many of my new florist roses starting this spring, I will wait to see their performace such as Gelato, Chantilly Lace, B Parasol, Kensington… and tons more.

Carol sorry about your air pollution. Do you have an an air filter? I have two running 24 hours at my home since I live by the freeway and a busy street. Yeah poppies are so pretty but not really worth it.
My husband asked me how many plants do I think I have since I have to hand watered them for now. This spring I have planted over 180 plants and that is not counting my window flowers, pot planters, seeds and bulbs. Gardening right now is a full-time job for me.
So many of you have so much experience and I have so many questions. I would love to pick your brains. Right now I'm having some issues with native plants. Can't tell if I need to water them more or less.
And then I'm dealing with my nemesis, Bad Bunny. I can't stand to see all the carnage it leaves behind. Then I saw it in the garden yesterday perusing around the lunch menu. I can't help but adore it at the same time. Before I had an issue with BB I had two outdoor bunny statues. I now have a total 9 bunny statues. You would think I would not worship my enemy 😜.

I had so much fun & enjoyment reading Sheila, Carol & Socal‘s posts … but must get ready for work now….. I’ll respond later or tomorrow asap. Funny bunny dilema! (Excuse m…. sorry. Love your sugn & statues! ) Thinking on a rose for Socal.
Carol,
One of my new roses, Chantilly Lace, I put off porch into the garden, but staying in pot,…. she has a little PM on her new leaves. Her leaves are lighter green & not as tough as all my garden roses. I just picked off a few leaves. It’s super hot so may burn PM up 76-80F right now. Delicate new roses often get the diseases as they are not hardy yet-light weight leaves. .
Of my new bare roots-I put 5 only in the garden in ground & some staying pots-off porch. 1. Chantilly Lace potted has delicate leaves, but should grow new stronger darker leaves soon. 2. Gelato, planted in ground, leaves are light green, but glossy & not prone to mildew. 3. Julietta , potted, bare root, darker leaves, which is growing fast right now, no mildew, very healthy leaves. 4. Monmartre, light green leaves, potted, no mildew. 5. Julietta Cerise, potted, great, darker keaves, a bloom & growing well. 6.
Some roses more prone to fungus, too. I have seen a tad of mildew on a porch rose , not much, just pucked off leaves. I still have sbout 15 roses left on porch. I’ll plant the 5 Cream Veranda in a few days when day off working.
I have not watered with sprinklers yet except once & it was “so cold/rainy fungus,” didnt get griwing. With it sunny -if it’s dry then most fungus will stay away. We will see. Fungus grows at temps 68-80F with humidity & wet leaves. . The higher dry temps dry get rid of it.
I took a ton of photos today…. some roses in almost full bloom bushes….. share them later…..
Royal Palace has blooms same color as Munstead W-very deep purple-burgandy… photos don’t capture true color. However, R Palace has plumper big blooms-very elegant…. wish I could show in a photo-much prettier than photos! And decadent rich fragrance! Outstandng rose-Stunning-My Fave!

The bunny sign will be by the Dahlia cage . That is another sign. I have to look into those two roses you mentioned.
The poppy tag is gone but Google lens says its called night poppy.
First time the wild Bad Bunny was okay relaxing in the garden today.
Sorry about the mess. I have construction going on in that spot. At least it's eating the designated carrot instead of my plants.rosecanadian thanked Z10Socal - yesterdaylast modified: yesterday

Gorgeous blooms..the princess kishi does not match my color scheme there but what a lovely rose. Love the peach color of the other one.
Is there such a thing of a airy wispy rose? Do you own and love any antiques? If this property was my permanent home I would consider planting Grandma's hat there but I love it too much to leave it here.

Original Author18 hours agolast modified: 18 hours agoWe're actually having a day with no smoke...tomorrow...Friday!!! I'm pumped about it. Instead of being stuck in a radon filled house (they're going to remediate this in August...but we're on a cancellation list), I can go outside and see my plants!! I'm excited about tomorrow!!
SoCal - Yes, we have an air filter. :) You planted over 180 plants this spring!! Way to go!! lol We went to Home Depot today, and I said, I'll be in the plant section. I bought another tomato plant and some gerberas (pink) and some lower growing annuals and I'm going to pot them all up together. I can't help myself...buying plants is what I do. lol Same goes with everyone here. :) :) About your native plants, can you post pics? I would generally say that it's better to overwater than to underwater. Ugh to Bad Bunny. Do you try to chase it away? I sure would. I would also say to plant some easy-to-reach plants that are delicious to rabbits. Then maybe it'll leave you other plants alone. But that didn't work so well for Ingrid and her squirrels. Maybe you should take away the rabbit statues and replace them with fox and coyote statues. That actually might help...plus a motion activated owl. :) :) I'm enchanted by your garden...so whimsical. How big of a rose do you want there? Being in California, I assume you don't have to worry about disease. I think Life of the Party would go so nicely with your decor. It's such a whimsical rose with it's yellow to pinkish blooms. Mine isn't very tall (2nd year), but it's smothered with buds (and one bloom that smells heavenly). Hmf says LotP gets to 4 1/2 feet.
Kitty - it's the opposite here. lol My new roses are great...it's my roses from last year that are the problem. It's as if they thought, here I am in my pot, I like it here, life is good. But the next year, they're "I was SO wrong; this is an awful place. My optimism is gone, so I'll cry white powder." lol I would have to pull off all of the leaves on my affected roses. I think it's the wet, cool nights we can get. I'm glad that so many of your roses don't get mildew. You still have lots of planting to do. Don't you hate that when the camera doesn't capture the colors properly? Diane's camera did a great job. Mine is like yours...doesn't get those deep colors right. Mmmm...decadent rich fragrance! Royal Palace is a winner! I like the last few pictures the best...but it doesn't capture the deeper color well. Frustrating, right?
Ooooh!!!! Those pictures make my heart sing!!! I adore your Charles Darwin!!! WHY did mine never, ever look like that? Those strong canes and glorious blooms. I'm really glad I tossed mine, it just couldn't do that for me even after 4 years. I really love your La Reine!!! What a Swooner!!!! I sure hope mine looks that great. Wow!! Oooh...Yves Cantina...another beauty!!! Happy sigh. :) :)

Original Author18 hours agolast modified: 18 hours agoSoCal - that bunny really is cute! Maybe feeding it is the best idea as long as it doesn't bring friends. :)
Kitty - I love your beds...this is the first time, I think, that you've showcased the beds. They've filled in really nicely and the roses sing in their spot!!! What is the deep red rose in the back of the last photo?
I may take some photos tomorrow. A few roses have some buds open.
I just checked and I have more plants coming Friday. Why did I order so many? It's the dead of winter ordering frenzy. lol- 12 hours agolast modified: 11 hours ago
What color of rose do you want in that soecial spot? How tall/wide?
Thank you! Princess Kishi has really tight beautiful thick strong petals & stems-beautiful dark green leaves, too. perfect rose for vases. I used to have a color scheme os light pink roses… too pink. So I added all colors…. love it more….reds, peaches, purples, lilacs, fuchsia, burgandies, creams, yellows, bi big-colors, almost orange, goldens…..still adding. Love it more. Love colors more now in the garden.
Grandmas’ Hat is a keeper-amazing fragrance! Antique-Old Garden Roses-I have a few. I only kept my star bloomers OGRs: La Reine, Louise Odier, Mme Dubost, Mme Isaac Pereirre, Jacque Cartier, Yolande de Aragon, and Variegatta dinBoligna. They grow tall easily so I can’t have too many-taking a lot of space.
I am giving away Honorine de Brabant, Glorie de Ducher, & Conte de Chambord now in pots to a friend. . I had Souvenier de Malmason & Soupert Clotilde and a few ither OGRs…. who went to friends.
New potted Tuscany Superb didn’t survive winter. Barbara O. I gave away. I can’t have too many. They are beautuful colors.
Carol,
Socal is in a humid area is California, I think maybe near coast. She gets fungus on roses, too. (Socal, I would not recommend Old Garden Roses-“Bourbon” roses to you which don’t do well in humidity near CA coast such as Mme Isaac Pereire & most of my OGRs. . I have humidity sometimes, but I spray if needed.)
Carol,
Wonderful! They will remedy yourvradin situation in August. Today you can go outside & enjoy fresh garden air! Woohoo! Sounds like you have plant mania buying all thise olants & another tomato, hee, hee! Wexll have it…. all thise long months in winter stuck in the house… we buy olants! Too many! Look at my 15 roses left on my porch trying to accclimate to my weather-hysterical! Sone are ok in shade doubg better such as ny 3 A&A roses potted in coconut coir-hoping tgey will thrive, but they lost sone leaves…. so theycare still adjusting. It went from rain every day to now very HOT! I hope tgey start growing soon.
Carol, If just a few tips of mildew -you can smooth off leaf mildew with your finger tips to see if it is gone, otherwise defoliate every leaf & spray. They will grow new leaves soon & be hapoy. Mildew spreads if not removed. Taking photos later in the day when sun is not so bright & roses more shaded shiws cliser to tru color. When camera flashes it brings out lighter reds. Early morning photos would be good, too. Thank you regarding my roses & beds…. time for just a few photos…. more bed photos when I am done with gardens in a week… sone new soil & putting out garden art needed. My beds are bot finished yet. I am working every day this week to get them finushed for my guest next week. Need to step up the oace. .
Yesterday I completely weeded & used some mint granules on all bugs. Planting some roses, flowers, soreading soil coming up in next few days.
Today I will remove old tulip leaves… clean-up-put any bulbs in ground from pots- old tulips. They will be fine-come up next year. I will plant a few Oriental lilies and put lettuce in garden.

Thank
you Kitty for sharing your amazing rose beds with us. I can only dream I have some like that one day. What made you give away Souvenir de lla Malmaison? I have not had mine long but it blooms all the time. I don't have many antiques but I have Efant de France, Marchesa and Suei mei rein. Yeah I can't part with my Grandma's Hat..it's just a perfect rose and I had it since it was tiny and now it's so big. I'm hoping to be in my more permanent home next year.
I like your Royal Palace rose. How prolific is it? Do the blooms hold up in the heat?
Here
is my color scheme with my current plants so any of those colors will do.Carol this place was supposed to be a business was going to call it the rose and the lion
But since it's a small cottage I thought more bunnies suited it more than more lions.
So this native here by the volunteer tomato I can't tell if I'm over or under watering. This sage I don't get why the leaves are so brown and why the other sage is turning that light yellow
Right now I'm watering every day at 6 or 6:30 amrosecanadian thanked Z10Socal - 10 hours agolast modified: 10 hours ago
Too early to call it a victory win but yesterday I left out lettuce and today it was gone and no plants were hurt in the process. I hope this BB🐇 can honor our mutual beneficial agreement 🤝 from now .
Carol, yay more plants! Your garden is going to be so pretty. You must share pictures.

Socal,
Getting teady for work…. but I’ll comment a little…. finish later tomorrow….
Thank you regardong my rose beds…. I’ll take more photos later…. I have many beds. S de la Malmaison is a delicate rose & I shouod have
done winter protect…. it didnt look good-gavecaway. I could grow it well now-I know how to protect in winter. You have some lovely OGRs! They are very special ones! Do they bloom well-prolifically? When you buy your home-just dig up any other faves & take with you. My climate is hard on roses-so some florist roses don’t grow too big such as Royal Palace. She’s 3 ft with a few blooms-but the most gorgeous blooms ever-still my fave rose. I will give her tons of rich soil & fish fertilizer to get her to flourish-which works and really protect her for winter. I highly recommend her-she ’d be great for you-no real winter-so she may grow oretty big for you! Pretty color scheme! I’ll think about a list of good roses for that spot. The Rose & The Lion sounds like a very cool business or Bunnies & Roses, hee, hee! Let us know what your biz name shall be?
Sweet feeding the bunny. Put a dish out daily & hope she doesn’t bring friends. Glad she’s not eating roses. Nice pet bunny….hee, hee! Nice statues, lions & bunnies. Your cottage garden is very cozy and pretty! What type of business?
Today I spent 2 hrs trimming back wilting daffodils & tulips -cleaning the beds. They are clean now!! Woohoo! (Weeded yesterday) Tomorrow plant 5 Cream Verandas in front yard-ready! .
To finish this week: Add new soil, a few flowers, set out garden art: fairies, bunnies, kitties, squirrels statues. Clean 2 porches & set out pillows, plant 4 big roses. And fish fertilize. Done!

Original Author4 hours agolast modified: 4 hours agoSomeone on Houzz (this thread?) suggested I try Bayer Infinito. Unfortunately, I can't get it here in Canada. What a shame. I guess, I have to keep trying to get resistant-to-mildew roses. I do have quite a few that have zero powdery mildew.
Kitty - I plucked off pm leaves, (Rosemantic Pink is a lost cause...I'm not going to keep it.), but I'm not going to spray. I would if I could find Bayer Infinito. No matter. I'll just continue on. :):) Really? I always thought that California is the land of milk and honey for roses and that they didn't get diseases. Live and learn. :) You still have 15 roses on your porch. :):) What we do for our roses. :) :) So you have some roses that are only potted in coir? That's a shame that they're not doing well. Maybe planting them right away would be better? Oh, I see, your weather is very hot; not the best time to transplant. Thanks for the defoliation recommendation. I did that today. Gardening is such good exercise, lol. I hope you get everything done for your guest. :) I love Oriental lilies...how many did you get?
SoCal - yes, bunnies are so whimsical in statue form (vs. a lion). :) So sweet. Okay, here's my thoughts on your plants, but don't do anything based on my advice, I'm almost always wrong. lol What I would do with the first plant is take off the browned leaves (or just snip off the browned parts) and continue as you have been doing. The rest of the plant looks really good. The 2nd plant is tricky. How long has it been there? First, I'd cut off the dead parts, and then I'd give it a bit more water than you have been doing. Let's see if anyone agrees with me. :) I love that you and the bunny have an unofficial truce. :) :) So cute!! Yes, I'll share pics once things start blooming a bit more. Everything is wet as we just had a downpour, but maybe I'll take pics tomorrow.
My Gabriel Oaks (has some PM) has such fragrant blooms!!! :) :)
Kitty - lovely roses!! My faves are your first La Reine and your 5th pic from the bottom. Wonderful!!- 1 hour ago
