If you could select a rug that stretched across the entrance way just a bit more that would be better IMO.

I have no idea if these rugs complement the rest of your home, but I like the patterns better than the one you selected.

We often get used to things, without looking at the space as a whole. My sister has a real eye and will suggest slight improvements and the outcomes always surprise me. If not interested, just ignore comments after rug.

Rug: The room’s configuration is difficult and there really isn’t a good location. A smaller mat at the door will add interest/provide floor protection and won’t break up the space. I’ve had different natural fiber rugs at my front door for years and like that they don’t take over, are workhorses and are not expensive. Be sure tape out to see what size would work best.

If interesed: Consider how accessories will help tie the room together; it’s the first impression of your home. The bench area and lighting will have a big impact and add cushion covers to suit over your pillows.

Consider adding art on the bare wall near door, using a frame that works with the ones on the staircase.

I would get a waterhog mat for the door, and no need for another rug for decor.
