Yellow leaves in Nepeta

last year
last modified: last year

I'm having a bit of trouble with Nepetas. I planted a healthy one last spring, and it did quite well through the season. This year, it came back, but it's noticeably smaller in size. After the first round of blooms, I gave it a light trim. Now I'm seeing two yellowing leaves near the base.

I’ve been watering just once or twice a week, depending on the temperature. I haven’t amended the soil, as I understand Nepetas typically prefer lean conditions. It’s planted on a slope in a sunny spot, so drainage should be good.

Open to any suggestions. I’ll post a photo soon.
Thanks!
