That is nice paper. It will also connect with your other colors. I might do brass fixtures.

You really don’t have to be tentative about wallpaper for a powder room.

Have you "tentatively" selected that paper because you (i) are concerned that it's too bold, or (ii) like the paper - but aren't "in love" with it?

As freedomplace1 has already commented - you don't have to worry about being too bold in a powder room. However, I'm not sure if that is why you are tentative about the wallpaper.

The paper is pretty - does the idea of using it in your powder room make you excited? If not, look at more wallpaper - there are so many types/patterns/colors that it can be overwhelming. If you provide some info re: your design style + add some photos, people will be able to provide you with some potential wallpaper ideas!

I have never used wallpaper in any room so a little tentative. and I found this paper rather quickly! But the colours are perfect with my paint samples and I’m wondering how this pattern would look on all 4 walls and with the flooring colour. I’m replacing a pedestal sink with a 24” vanity. Right now room is quite dark so I really want to brighten it up!

I was fooling around with AI after I posted my comment - and all that AI was giving me for powder rooms in this case were pedestal sinks. I had requested brass fixtures, but I did not specifically request sink type. So maybe according to AI, you should keep your pedestal sink.

Not your specific paper shown here of course; but was just showing some of the general colors combined with burnished brass.

It wouldn't be my choice. Looks dated already.

I like the the paper and it's colors but you might consider only doing an accent wall first in case you decide it is too much for a small space.

It certainly is a nice look to wallpaper a powder room and only doing one wall is kind of wimping out. Either do all 4 walls or just paint it.

I see other's using these bold papers (well pictures of I dont' actually KNOW anyone who has) and I think isn't that FUN. It's bold and brave and I wonder how long until I would tire of it. To each their own and in the end so you redo it in a year or two--it was fun while it lasted!!

If you love it do it. It is a PR you can do things there you would not do anywhere else in the home it is a space to have some fun

It can be pricey to wallpaper, but it is still just wallpaper and easily removed later on.

But I shouldn't be talking, because I have been trying to pick a wallpaper for my powder room for 3 years! I can wallpaper the whole space with all the samples I have collected, lol.

I did my powder room recently and have a 2” package of samples. If you love the paper, do the whole room. If you’re ambivalent, keep looking.

Where is the powder room? Are the walls visible from any rooms? Is the whole house these colors? If the powder room door is mostly closed, you can use anything you want in there. (A friend used gorgeous dark purple paper in her small powder room in the back of her house. )

I wouldn’t use a wallpaper I didn’t really love. Yes, you can change it out at another time but once you’ve done a room, you really don’t want to re-do it anytime soon.

If you love the paper, use it. The mockup that was done with your paper is very unflattering... that is not how the paper will actually look in your space...

Keep in mind - wallpaper, like art, is very personal. Who cares if someone else doesn't like your wallpaper choice? The good news is: they won’t be living in your house. :)

If you love the paper, but don’t know if you'll love it on all of the walls - it is perfectly acceptable to do it on an accent wall. I would do the mirror wall and coordinate it with a beautiful paint color on the other walls.

Is it just the photo or is the pedestal sink a different finish than the toilet?

I that is the case, you should select a wallpaper that has both colors in it to link the two items together. What color is the toilet?

IMO for a small powder room I'd consider a mediuml scale pattern which becomes the background of the room, so you're not assaulted by a large scale pattern when you enter the room.

Thank you Beverley for these photos and link. I will replace both toilet and sink with vanity with white sink and toilet.

Unless you want to coordinate with the paint colors, powder rooms can really stand on their own. It will feel very different with the white being added, plus the vanity’s style will have a big influence. Assume you are also getting a new mirror and lighting (suggest placing the towel ring on left wall or on vanity, if room). Think big picture.

You mentioned you found it quickly as well, so I’d suggest looking on line for not only wallpaper ideas, but also how room was accessorized. You’lll start to see a trend and at that point, a decision will be easier. Also borrow the wallpaper books and if interested, adding molding can be really nice. Endless combinatons…good luck.

If you’re changing the sink and toilet to white, you can consider wainscoting in white with wallpaper above. My powder room is claustrophobic and I added high white wainscoting to 5’. It really helped make the room feel a bit better. I also used a wall mounted sink, again to give as much open visuals as possible.
The first photo is what you see from the entryway, dining room and front of the Great Room. My wallpaper needed to work with all those spaces.

@RedRyder Thats my favorite look for a powder room! Toilets are pretty hard things to disguise, but they seem much less conspicuous with same-colored wainscoting in the background. And dividing the vertical space seems to help balance room height with a small footprint.

Nothing wrong with your original paper. I am guessing your original paper is the ”impressionist print” that Abby is referring to.

And I am guessing that, because as soon as I saw your paper, I thought ”impressionist”.

I love impressionism. Mainly, I love Claude Monet.

Why not do a Monet wallpaper? Here is one wallpaper and one knockout mural over wainscoting. Either would look fabulous in a bathroom.

And her paper would look “fabulous”, too... With or without wainscoting, and in this case, I think I vote ’without’.

The garish, distorted mockup of (what may or may not even be the actual paper) was clearly intended to shock and steer her away from her choice. Then, the crowd jumped on board. It’s enough already.
