Firt remove all that stuck on brick on the island .I love Uba Tuba granite but it does not work grays. ever It is hard to see your cabinet color or floors . On my monitor the floors and counter seem to work but hard to tell. I have no idea what you are trying to show in the pictures for sure . The granite can have many colors in it so post close up of your counter here in a comment then maybe we can help I think of Uba uba as what you see when looking into a clear brook to see all the rocks so tend to like greens with a touch of yellow in them then cut 50 %

Will agree with Patricia Colwell - removed the faux brick/stone from the island. As she said, on my monitor the three cabinet colors seem to work rather well with the flooring. Those colors even seem to work with the countertops (maybe because there appear to be flecks of gray in it) but that may be from the color appearance of the photos.

What color are the cabnets now? They may not be the problem. The stone on the island is definitely a problem. Have you considered replacing the countertops instead of painting the cabinets?

I should have posted the original kitchen color. The images are mockups with unique colors. The original color cabinet is red.

So post that pic here and BTW all those cabinets look exactly the same on my monitor

What ever color you choose, I agree with Lisedv... for sure cover all of that stone.

If you would like a grey, look at Benjamin Moore Edgecomb Gray. Otherwise, a light taupe could also work.

And if possible, roll the stones out of the building.;) Maybe you could have a wood facade built over them. I would remove the backsplash, and just paint the wall area in an eggshell finish, which makes it cleanable/wipeable.

you still havent shown the existing. red can be interesting in the mix w the dark floor /darker counter and SOME white cabinetry....leaving some of the red in the modern up to date space....space looks large also.... remedy the funny stone block on the island sides of course.

The original cabinet color is a reddish color and the stone is real not fake. They were installed by the previous owner. Granite is Uba Tuba with beige, green and black flacks. Walls and adjoining walls are painted with Revere Pewter.

Those appear to be high end wood veneer cabinets. you would have to have a poor condition status to alter them if that were my kitchen. you havent stated the reason to attempt to alter them especially since the space is cohesive… change of the stone sides on island is a discretionary choice and perfectly reasonable to make a change.

The counters, stones, and floor are all killing me together. Way too much going on in here. It seems you like the stones - yes? If so, I’d color match the cabinets and walls to the stones. Then you only have three colors happening in this space - floors, counter, and stone/wall/cabinet color. No grey in here please. It doesn’t make sense.

The stone is absolutely terrible regardless of what color you choose to paint the cabinets. Sorry. 😞

FWIW: I would not fight the warm tones in this kitchen. Choose a warm grey rather than a cool. Given that the stone/brickwork looks real and not a facing, I'd consider a cream/warm off-white. I actually like stone when it isn't pretending to be something else. lol. Lovely big space! Good luck!

Everyone is confused by your pictures since you didn't show the original wood cabinets until later in your posting. When you post, show original cabinets first, then mockups since some of us don't think you should change out the wood cabinets at all since they look good. And please show the ENTIRE kitchen, not just a piece of it. Here are my suggestions based on keeping wood cabinets, which are a modern look.

--Leave the current wood cabinet finish, but change the countertops to off white with slight gray and warm red pattern to echo wood cabinets and gray floor. Get white/off-white backsplash.

Leave the stone on the cooking island since it matches stone on the wall. It's not a modern look, but lighter patterned countertops will help blend those surfaces visually,

You have some "scroll-y" items in the kitchen--cabinet with some decor item. Paint your small cabinet off white If you need a cabinet there and remove scroll-y decor item. Clean off your countertops of: things you don't use everyday. Of it you use paper towels, dish liquid, etc. set up a system underneath the sink for those. Countertop clutter isn't a "modern" look.

The cabinets are very nice. I sure would not be painting them. Its the island that is the elephant in the room. The counters look nice. The backsplash looks to be more of the stone, and I see on the far right of your picture more stone. I would be removing every last stone in that kitchen. Paint walls, if you need to, but, leave those cabinets.

@mvbell - I'm sure it's a bit overwhelming to read through so many comments telling you to keep your cabinets. I also agree that you should keep them - they look like they are good quality and appear to be fairly new.

HOWEVER - this is not my kitchen, it is your kitchen.

Do you have inspiration photos of kitchens that you love? That would show us what your design style + preferred colors are. Also, it may show everyone why you aren't happy with your current "red" cabinets.

While stone on an island is not for everyone - apparently, it is (was?) fairly popular.

Now that I see you have nice looking cherry cabinets I would replace all the hardware for a more modern style, and instead of painting the cabinets I would replace the granite counters with a cream colour and also a cream colour metro style tile for the backsplash. I also suggest you remove the stone on the island and finish in a charcoal/black paint colour, one that coordinates with your flooring.
