Flooring materials for a covered patio

I've been looking for flooring materials for our raised, covered patio. It has a solid roof over it, but will get partially wet if it rains as it is open on two sides. At Bedrosians, a well known store in San Jose, CA, they recommended a non-slip 3/8" tile which feels quite rough and I worry that its too thin. This tile will be the same material that goes on our front stoop. I want something that gives it a nice finished, somewhat modern look.

Suggestions for other materials to consider?

Porcelain tile. it depends on the color and style you want.

Look for outdoor rated porcelain tiles/pavers.

I would look into slate

or go with the porcelain pavers!

I would use slate from Brazil. It's a dark charcoal/gray with varying shades which looks really nice. You can use large size tiles or do a pre-set pattern using different sizes. If it's from Brazil, it won't be slippery when it gets wet + it won't "peel" = pieces of the top of the tiles will break off in layers. If you purchase gauged slate, it will be a consistent size for your installer. If you would like less texture, you can purchase honed slate tiles.

I've had 4x12 slate tiles (herrignbone pattern) in one of my bathrooms for four years - it's never been sealed and quite a few things have been spilled on it. I wouldn't suggest that you don't seal yours - I'm just letting you know how mine has held up (I have purchased sealer and will be sealing it shortly - I just recently discovered that our installer never sealed it!)
