I need to replace one of the toilets in our place. Finding a replacement has been difficult because of some constraints.

Type: Bidet (can be Toto-style Washlet+ or external, I'm thinking non-Toto because of cost)

Shape: Elongated or round (I prefer elongated but given challenges, I'm OK to choose otherwise)

Style: Contemporary or minimalist (fits the rest of the bathroom and house)

Constraints:

Rough in: 12 "

Water supply: 4" left from center, 9" from floor and extending 3 3/4" from wall (the distance from the wall rules out many options)

Width: 16.5" max (so that we can install a standard width vanity)

Floor: Current is square base 9 1/2" across, 11" from bolts to front

I suspect there is a slim wood base between the toilet and tile. I've removed some as a test and it breaks apart like wood.

I suspect there is grout between the toilet and floor. I think a toilet with a smaller footprint would show marks on the tile that I cannot remove. I don't know how to check this without first removing the current toilet.

My first choice was Toto Aquia IV because it has a skirt. However, that definitely won't fit because of the location of the water supply. Second choice was American Standard Cadet Aspirations but this won't fit again because of the water supply location.

Options I see:

* hire plumber to shorten the supply valve (I'm in a condo so that means turning off the water for the building)

* find toilet with square base

* plan to replace the tile in the bathroom

* your creative idea
