I agree, thus why I was didn't want to paint the vertical tim on the brick white! You confirm white will be too stark on brick. I'm leaning toward painting between bay windows white to maximize window appearance. Thanks for the picture! If I do that, should I paint the trim piece above the stone the gray color? Any chance I can just limewash the triangle of brick with the wood trim and leave the rest of the brick around the house original? I really dislike the triangle of brick. Keep in mind, a new accent window will be installed there with some white trim around it.

Forget the white trim everywhere is my advice and another window added to that goofy brick triangle will only bring attenetio to the worst part of the house . I never suggest painting brick but I would remove that silly trim and paint the brick the same as the siduing a nicedarker not white color.

Only other thought would be to remove brick/trim in the triangle and replace with the shingles to match the upper portion of the house? The window is a small attic bedroom, so I can't lose it! I agree-my house is giving me a headache with all the mismatch! But you think okay to just paint that portion of brick, without painting the rest of the brick?

No, the vertical trims above the bay window should not be painted white.

It would be too much contrast.

I too would remove them all together. if you can't or don't wish to, leave them the dull gray.

I would not paint the trim around the new accent window white. keep that subtle as well.

Do you really need a new accent window? Is it in an attic space or room?

you could replace the accent window with a vent cover.

Consider removing the brick above, and stone around the bay window.

Replace the stone with board & batten to match the wall to the right, and clad the gable with shingles matching the dormers.

Paint the bay window all white.

It is a small attic bedroom, so we have to keep the window. But it could be done with no white trim, as it is a wood window. The wood is inset into the brick, so would be hard to remove. Perhaps lime washing just that section of brick to be gray?

Using paint to minimize the dormers. Dark trim, and painting the cornerboards to match the shingles.

The roof would look better darker too.

I'm not suggesting you eliminate the gable window -- just easier for me to cover it when editing the image.

Boy, it is a relief to get rid of the awkward triangle of brick! Uggg. Problem is, we just painted the siding and the trim, we just haven't finished the front bay yet. I'll keep the dark trim idea for the future though. What about just replacing the brick triangle at this point, and keeping it grey.

I’d paint all trim including windows the same color, something that blends with the siding. Reducing the contrast will make the entire exterior more cohesive. The brick is nice and if it’s the same as on the other sides that’s good.
