Walk through closet to master bathroom or vice versa - HELP

I know this has been asked before, but many of the post seem old, so it would be great to get an updated view. I would like a walk in closet, the in order to have one I would need to have it before my bathroom. Below is a potential design, but I don't really like the idea of walking through a room to get to another room. Is this normal/more popular or do people not like it.

The first layout below is the current configuration. The second is the proposed. Currently we have two separate closets with louvered doors. We can't figure out how else to get a walk in closet :(.

Any insights are very much appreciated!

I do not like it.

Walk in closet from the bedroom. Not from the toilet, nor a walk thru.

I currently have this setup. I do not like it at all. Try to avoid it anyway you can. Maybe you can create a hallway between both closets, even if it means you have to make each closet or the bathroom a bit smaller. If you have to go this way make sure you have a very powerful exhaust fan in that bathroom. There is a lot of wasted space as you need to always have a clear wide path. Humidity & odors are not good for your clothing.

You will not increase storage space as much as you want because there will be a need for a path to the bathroom.

And to be gross--in the wee hours a few nights ago someone in my family didn't make it to the toilet in time to be violently ill. Now I'm thinking "at least..." my clothes were spared from the fall out. ( no pun intended)

How big is the house? How many bedrooms and bathrooms?

Can you sacrifice a bedroom to create a bigger master suite?

Not all houses are large enough to have a walk-in closet.

I would never buy a house where I have to walk through a closet to get to the bathroom or through a bathroom to get to the closet.

As @Rho Dodendron pointed out, your plan doesn't give you any additional storage space, because you still need exactly the same path to the bathroom. All you've really done is removed the doors from your current closet, so that you see all of your clothing as walk to the bathroom. I don't see how that's an improvement.

Thanks all for the feedback, that has been my inital feeling, but trying to figure out how to get a walk-in closet. What are your thoughts if I swap the bathroom/closet, so the closet is at the end, and the bathroom in between with a door closing the closet?

I would really hate walking through a bathroom to get to my closet. Especially if I'm married, and it means walking past my SO while he's conducting business, to get to my closet.

What is set in stone here? Are the windows existing or is this a new build and you can adjust window locations/sizes?

Sorry - not enough coffee yet I guess and I reread your post. So your existing layout is better than the proposed. A walk in closet is not necessarily better than a reach in if the lineal feet stays the same in each scenario. What are the goals with your project - you need more closet space? Also redoing the bathroom? Plan to change any windows? Might be better to post photos of your existing bedroom/bath etc and post your specific issues/goals.

Closet before bathroom is not good, closet after the bathroom is terrible.

You would be better off getting quotes from closet companies to maximize the closet space you have. Remove the doors, headers and wing walls and have closets/drawers made to fit the whole opening.

You could also move the slider over 3 ft and have a whole wall of closet built-ins on that right wall.

I new layout is not really any better than the old for space and neither access are perfect but closet before bathroom is better . I cannot read the measurements so maybe post the pics in jprg so we can enlarge them

Can you show us the layout of the entire floor? I'm wondering if there's any way to adjust the siizes of the other rooms. Because the easiest way to get what want would be making Bedroom #2 your master. You could have separate bathroom and closet entrances straight off the shared wall with that bedroom.

We rented a condo with a similar situation that had a great solution. Move the hallway from the bedroom to the bathroom to the outside wall, add an entry to the closet from the hallway and then flip the bathroom to accommodate the new arrangement, i.e. vanity along outside wall. It worked great! Excuse my photo editing skills but think this gives enough information to illustrate this option. You could even incorporate the other closet into the walkin.
