It looks a bit odd that the crown moulding doesn't match the rest of the trim (base and door casings). Not sure of the quality of the wood but all the trim might benefit from being painted.

I’d remove the smaller items (circled) and add a nice lamp on the sideboard - watching the scale (not too big but not too small) and add a nice smaller tray to hold keys etc

I'd get a patterned rug. The one there now is blah.

Agree with Patricia. The mirror is too busy / fussy. I’d change to a larger framed mirror & swap out the rug for one with color & a bit of design - not too much since front of cabinet has lots of detail. I’d remove the plant in corner by door & maybe the larger one on stand too. Is that a bench to sit on in front of the plant? Looks too crowded with plant behind it. I’d remove the small hanging item above the light switch too. It’s too fussy.

The plants and little church can go on the credenza, vs random trays etc. and their stands removed. The light fixture there is meh, either way is just fine.

I would sq. up the frame and add a couple other pieces to the vignette.

remove all the little pieces in the room. Put the plant and flower on the unit, clear the floor. Is that a stool to sit on? A patterend runner. Is the furniture centered on the opening to the other room? Do that first.

I also suggest a simpler mirror but the room would look so much brighter and welcoming if you painted the crown moulding and door frames while keeping the wood baseboards. I also find the sideboard looks as though it has yellowed with time, I would paint it a warm white. I also suggest a patterned rug (Ruggable machine wash & dry).

The mirror and the cabinet look straight out of Hobby Lobby. They set a low end style for the room.

This sideboard below is from World Market. This cabinet combined with a brass framed mirror, some buffet lamps and a basket of greens would set a better foyer appearance.

I think you could probably find something at a resale store or Facebook MarketPlace for a better price if required.

If you like them but want to brighten it up, I would not paint your furniture. I'd put a red runner on the credenza and/or a red vase/bowl candles on top.

you can do something similar with your furniture. square up the frame and add the plant. keep it simple... add a border print runner. something more vivid.

The mirror should be hung square. It looks dated on the diagonal like that...so last century.
