In my opinion, at least a powder room in the basement would be very handy. You probably would prefer that your son's friends stay downstairs. I agree that storage space is overrated--it just makes moving or downsizing all that much work for things that you'll never nuss,

I'd add the powder room. You can then list your home as 3.5 baths instead of 2.5, which some may find very valuable. I know people who run or work out and then use the basement bathroom afterwards.

Yes to the 3/4 bathroom. It can become a flex space in the future. For extra storage you can always have some built-ins or other cabinetry for storage.

It is true that the more storage space you, the more you collect. I’m not understanding when you say you are worried about not having enough storage.

If it is adequate for you, it will be for the next person.

Again simply add furniture that doubles as storage during your renovation.

As for converting the basement to a space for kids, I think it will add value to your house. I would not use carpet, because then it removes the idea of just being storage for the next family.

I love storgae but certainly can be done and still use the space as you plan. Do you have egress windows ? If not a 1/2 bath is all you need since IMO no sleepovers down there . As for storage what do you need to store ? I am just packing to move from a big house to a much smaller one and already have 56 boxes full of stuff from my storage room, this was going to be our forever home but life had other plans. I think a 1/2 bath is always a good plan in a space used often.
