Sconce or pendant?
My king bed is centered on the window and ceiling fan, but they are not centered on the wall. The fan is at foot of bed about 7 feet from wall. The room is 14x16’. I want a clean minimalist aesthetic and assume that simple curtains are the way to go (instead of blinds). I What I am not sure about:
- Is it “too much curtains” for the two windows so close to each other?
- Pendant lights — With fan light, still OK or too many hanging objects?
- If pendant lights, is there any benefit to having curtains run along entire length of wall?
- Sconce or pendant, any preference and why?
I’m not adamantly opposed to lamps on night stand, but thought sconce or pendant would give a more minimalist look. Plus I will likely have a desk lamp on the dresser.

- Blinds not curtains.
- White fan that blends into the ceiling. Maybe you can paint this one? It is pretty chunky though. I just hung a white minimal fan that is excellent, gives great light too, and is much smaller than yours.
- Pendents are fussy for a minimal look. A minimal bedside light is best so you don't have to deal with the issue of centering sconces.

For a minimalist look and the window you have a roman shade would be more appropriate.

I would do ablind top down/bottom up for light control and privacy, lots of great color options. I agree with a white fan, less noticeable, available anywhere. I never use the light kit on a fan, just for circulation.

PROlast yearYou might try Roman shades on the window and then you could easily do sconces on either side of the bed. Sconces would be easier to change out and update than pendant lights. You could also do some slim modern lamps if that might appeal to you. Below are a few of our designs showing some sconces and lamps that could work for your bedroom.

Thanks for all the feedback. I've decided to go with custom cellular blinds and sconces and replace the black fan with a more minimalist white one. I am strongly leaning towards purchasing the rug in this photo and possibly the sconces as well.
I've been following some designers that suggest to paint the trim same color as walls in a different finish. You think this is a good approach? And should I choose the blind color to match as closely as possible with the walls?
