I would leave them. Stained wood is always better for railings, etc, because, it handles the wear better. It looks good just the way it is.

I wouldn’t base the decision on the kitchen cabinets, as it’s more important to ensure this space works well. White wouldn’t be my choice.

I’d paint black (which is more flattering and will suit your kitchen’s feel). If interested down road remove the carpeting, stain to match flooring and add a runner (or not).

In my opinion, it looks nice the way it is.

Leave as is. The wood is a nice contrast to your wall color. No need to get matchy with white railings and white trim.

I agree, wood stain is best for hands on a railing. You would have to keep touching up the white, if you painted it. Looks good with the kitchen and warms up this area of your house.

Definitely keep the wood. It's a nice feature in the middle of the space.
