Quilting fails.

After looking at all the beauties shown in the last week or so, I am embarrassed to tell of my sewing goofs!

Last week I told myself to get moving, faster than I have been moving. On my cutting table, I have a collection of patterns which I have printed from the net. All relatively simple. I selected one and then proceded to go through the bins of print strips, pulled out several and began to cut. Well, wasn’t I feeling proud of myself!

Later that night, while trying to get to sleep, I went over my day, thought about the pieces I had cut and realized I had cut them wrong, not 61/2 but 41/2”.

Now what!

Well, I printed off a few more patterns from Pinterest, and found one that could work with these 41/2 strips. This morning, I pulled some white leftovers to use as centre block and cornerstones, sat at the machine and merrily sewed away.

Yep, you guessed it. Instead of sewing the white to the short end of my prints, I was sewing on the long side. Thankfully, I hadn’t done too many before I caught my mistake and have now frogged them.

I guess I have forgotten everything I knew about sewing, cutting etc. Dumb-de-dumb dumb!

I must never take such a long spell away from the machine!

Oh my, I feel your pain! I have not been at my machine for some time and right now am lacking motivation. I would probably have tossed the strips back into my stash boxes.

Keep going, Theresa! I’m sure you will make something great!

I’m lacking motivation now, too. I have a small Patchwork of the Crosses in progress, but don’t feel like picking out fabrics to keep going. And my diamond quilt top is still waiting to be quilted, but I don’t feel like dealing with a large quilt. I’ll find something that interests me.

Oh, Theresa, I feel your pain. We have all been there. Keep plugging along, and I'm sure you'll have a lovely quilt in the end.

I just came up from sewing on this project. I have the centres of the 30 blocks done, am now attaching sashing. It is slow going because we have some other work staring at us.

Our 40 year old deck gave up the ghost and needs replacing. finding someone to do it was a challenge and then deciding what size it should be (downsizing), all these things seem to fall into my lap! So sometimes stepping on that floor pedal is the break I need. Hopefully, I can get back to it soon.

I had taken the picture from Pinterest and I was sure it was in my photos. Nope! I must have deleted it when I printed it. I just spent a good length of time searching for it. Close to giving up when it appeared. There sure are some beauty quilts out there.

Anyway, here is what I am copying, still have another row of sashing to complete. getting anxious to finish it.

The picture thing has happened to me before on my phone. I usually try on my laptop if that happens.

We have all mismeasured at some time...none of us are immune. The important thing is that you were able to make something else that will likely be as beautiful, if not more. Try to keep your chin up!

I quilted this yesterday, today is trimming and binding. If my back doesn’t give out, it should be finished today.
