This is probably the ugliest fireplace ever!! Ideas!!

This condo is 850 sqf and this huge corner fireplace is an eye sore. The picture doesn't reflect, but it's literally a corner fireplace.

What's your budget? The cheapest solution is paint. The price goes up from there.

Post a picture showing more of the room as well as your style of furniture, etc. so that we can make suggestions. Do you have any plan for the 3 tiles sitting on top of the fireplace?

In such a small space, removing it would be the best option, budget permitting.

Does it work ? Do you own the condo? I have seen many uglier FPs for sure . We need to see the whole room with the FP and that is how you get help here . Post the pics in a comment here usually hard to add to the original post ,

Here is how to post a Design Dilemma to get the best results. (Post only one thread on same Dilemma. You can add photos to original thread.) You need to show the whole space—all four sides of an entire space—even if it’s about one specific Dilemma. Commenters need to see doorways, windows, closets, finishes throughout the space to make informed suggestions. In open spaces, Commentors need to see adjacent spaces like living, dining, family room areas that adjoin a kitchen. This is so finishes like cabinetry, paint, and flooring harmonize in the whole space.

I have seen uglier for sure. As another poster said - paint is probably your cheapest option. Removing it or attempting to rework it will be significantly more expensive. Covering it with another material might not be too expensive though. Actually you might have a chance to turn the fireplace into a real showpiece. Just be thoughtful about what you are doing. Good luck!

We have seen far uglier on here though I get that you hate it. Show us the whole room and your style, pics of how you wish the room to look. Is it carpeted and do you intend to keep it that way?

Not sure of your budget or style but one option is to have a trim carpenter cover most of the brick with paneling. Then the brick won't be so bossy. If you take this route, make sure the person who does it is familiar with your local fire codes.

Budget, amount of effort, your overall style and furniture, color scheme, etc. will help dictate choices.. Have you looked on line to get a sense of what you like? Try Pinterest and search ”full wall brick fireplace makeover” for ideas and many have tutorials. Depending on your room, you could paint light or dark, stucco, frame in, mortar, plaster, and replace mantle.

How you accessorize afterwards will have a big influence as well.

I’d definitely go with one of the examples shown here. It could look really nice.

It’s far from ugliest. You don’t have this!😵‍💫

I don't see the entire room so this is just one idea of many... Whitewash the bricks, install a wood mantel, if possible a built-in on the side of the fireplace.

I could make that fireplace look absolutely stunning by replacing the doors the decor hang some art and/or sconces and change the wall paint color. No idea what the rest of the space looks like though

    Some option with modern vibe

What don't you like about it? I'm rarely in camp painted brick. To me it looks un-natural. A good cleaning, firebox door replacement, and decor would do wonders here.

Only 850 sq ft condo. I would demo that thing and reclaim floor space.
