Most faucets have ceramic cartridges that are warranted for a lifetime. It's likely your existing faucet only needs to change the cartridge and it will work without leaking.

If you can identify your faucet, people often simply call the customer service department of the company and FREE cartridges are supplied.

Yes, my handyman mentioned that a new cartridge would probably make a difference, but had wanted to change at least one of the sets when I moved in, but held off since they were functional. If I can spend $500-600 and get 2 that I will like for the next 5-10 years, then worth it. Just wanted to see which brands are "better"- the pedestal sinks are Kohler but I know that doesn't really matter.

At this point it's just the style. I'd recommend you select a single lever faucet if the holes are 4" o.c. with an Escutcheon Plate

Huge Delta fan here. Sold their faucets for many years with no issues. Dealings with customer service has been very easy and always got any missing parts or questions answered with ease.

Their price points are very good as well. Definitely be sure to get the ones with the diamond technology/ceramic disc cartridge.

I've had so much trouble with plumbing over the years -- when I buy something new, I want it to be DELTA. It seems to be most widely accepted as the best. I've never had to replace anything DELTA that I've bought /installed. This is just one consumer's opinion -- just a homeowner, not a pro.

I'm VERY into ease of cleaning (another way to say that: lazy). In a perfect world, you'd go with a wall-mounted faucet, which would mean you can just run your cleaning cloth over the unincumbered countertop. But since you're rennovating instead of building from scratch, you almost certainly have holes drilled in the countertop /must go with the much more usual countertop-based faucets. Definitely go with wide-spread faucets rather than smaller models -- this will mean you don't have to "floss" your faucet while cleaning. If you have the option, go with a single-stem faucet, as it's less to "clean around".

I wish we were renovating. I am literally just changing faucets and they are 8" wide spread. The existing sinks are Kohler pedestals. I will try to go to a plumbing store that has some Delta faucets but when I looked online, some of the Delta ones I liked are actually sold at Lowes or Home Depot or Build.com.
