Landscape Design Garden Roses

Eden rose shoots! Please help

last year

I planted Eden roses in the hope they would climb/grow sideways and go along my fence. Third year in the ground. The part that goes sideways barely bloomed at all this year and I've got these straight canes coming out instead...and it is unsightly. Is there a pruning trick? or what do I need to do to get the look I'm desiring? Thanks for the help! 🌹

You need to bend them and tie them horizontally to the picket fence. That will spread the blooming hormones throughout the cane and maximize bloom next spring.

Plants grow vertically, toward the sun. unless you train them otherwise

Like both prior comments said. You need to train the rose horizontally with careful bending of the canes. watch a youtube video if necessary.
