Help! Lost in redoing kitchen. please help with flooring and paint!

last year

We are trying to redo my sister's house remotely. Having trouble picking flooring and paint from HD. Kitchen abuts Living room with hardwood floors via only a 3 foot door. There is wood trim everywhere. New kitchen cabinets will be white. What color paint to go through whole house? Had thought toasted almond or southern breeze might work but hard to tell from afar. And flooring...had samples shipped but told wood doesn't match hardwood, so two tiles...do either of these go? Help!

Please no LVP wood look floor next to real wood. What is your plan exactly with the cabinets and countertops?

And more information on the tiles you show is needed - I think you can do better.

The tiles you show are a bit too gray and really dont go with much of anything. I like the wood trim, and wondering why you dont go with wood stain to match on the cabinets, or a color other than white. Stark whites, just dont seem right for her house.

Nix the grey. Grey does not belong here. It’s out of style anyway, if your sister cares about that.

A warmish white or very pale tan goes with the trim and wood floors. Mentioning floors, agree with never abutting wood-look next to real wood.

Thank you so much! Your comments are helping!! We are just lost in what to do. When we had the hardwoods redone they are much lighter than they had been so hard to get a good reference in photos...at least for me. The image sent with the Southern breeze and feldspar onyx tile is very helpful too! My sister is going to be selling her house...and we were told to do white cabinets as it would make the small kitchen look bigger. It's a 10x12 space. There is another room with brick fireplace that is open via a half wall on the other side of the kitchen with the same wood trim that we will need to do flooring for also.

Someone asked about countertops....ideas?? The other side of the kitchen has stove and refrigerator..

Check with the contractor who redid your floors about matching them in the kitchen. Take a white door in to Sherwin Williams to develop paint colors. The professional staff offer free consultation and can show you color options you can rest in your space.

I wish realtors would stop wanting everything white. Some houses, white is not a great idea, and rather than paint it all white, I would let the buyers pick their own colors, etc, because, they most likely wont want any of the colors you or your sister pick anyway.

I agree with you! But the buyers today for this type of house want move in ready and aren't buying the ones they need to do some work to. Unfortunate. The walls absolutely need to be painted before sale...this the dilemma. Thanks.
