Light fixture consultation needed for my new foyer!

Hello Houzz community, I appreciate you share your ideas on what type of light fixture would look best in this small tray ceiling (2’8” by 6’2”) at the entrance of the house (foyer). That tray is centered on the entrance door and was added to provide accent as we get inside the house. The house is transitional style. Here is a picture of the tray ceiling. Thanks in advance.

Honestly, this looks rather odd to me. It is centered on the door but doesn't appear to be centered on the room. So you have a niche to highlight a piece of lighting that will be off centered. Can you show us how large the foyer is? Is there any other lighting illuminating the space or will this fixture be it?

Do you have any inspiration pics for what the rest of your home and style of the space will look like so we can recommend a fixture that matches the feel of your home. Transitional is a pretty wide open field.

Hi Kendra, the foyer is small (see picture). I like the niche analogy you made. I also have cans in the other side of the stairs. I am not concerned about the amount of lighting. I think I have plenty. I am open to suggestions that are not traditional. I have been looking at linear chandeliers with and without shades. Any thoughts?

Am I correct from the drawing that the dotted rectangle is the tray / niche?

Are you able to take more pics of the space so we can see the size of it in relation to the rest of the space? My instinct is that I want it to be bigger, but that may be because it just looks so small from this angle.

Is it correct that the front door opens out? That's unusual. If it opens in, where is that indicated on the drawing and does the height of the light have to be considered with the top of the door?

Do you have any finishes decided on for this space? It is a shot in the dark (literally) to just randomly guess on lighting to match the finished look of the space. Do you have a finish for the railing? What kind of tile floor will be in there?

Yes the front door opens out as required by code . Sorry but I don’t have definite answers to most of your questions. It is still work in progress. Ceiling height is 10 feet. Should the light fixture be matching the stairs balusters? Are there any kind of lights that I need to avoid?
