Velux vs Hunter Douglas honeycomb shades

I am looking at Hunter Douglas solar powered shades for my skylights. I just saw a velux shade kit installed at someone's home and it's at least $500 cheaper per skylight and I have 11 of them. I can see the light around the edges in the velux but my skylights are angled and recessed and maybe that won't be noticable though. The Hunter Dougklas would let me coordinate colors and fabric with my window coverings whereas the velux would be white. Any experience or thoughts? Thanks in advance.

I have Velux Solar skylights. I'm not happy with the light filtering shade installed a few years ago. It's definitely different than the one installed at the time the skylight was installed circa 2013. The new one is supposed to be the same, but I don't think it keeps out as much light as the original. The sun seems to beat down on the hardwood floor. There is a runner on each side so there is no light seen around the edges. The skylights are angled and recessed. That being said I would go with the Velux again. Their service has been great. Your shades should match the ceiling not your other window treatments IMO.

Check Hunter Douglas' service. I hear it's not great. I do have roman shades on other windows by Hunter Douglas, and it has been the designer I purchased them through who has handled the service calls.

We have the Velux skylight/shade, installed in 2015, and it works great. The skylight faces west so gets loads of late afternoon sun. We have Hunter Douglas cellular shades in all our other windows, installed by a local "Shades on Wheels" company; they've done 2 complete installations over 30+ years and no issues.
