My Henri Martin has hips every year. I'll try to keep an eye out regarding my other mosses.

@Sheila z8a Rogue Valley OR thanks for the great photo, look at all those hips! I wonder why some sources say Henri Martin doesn't make hips? There just are a couple of photos of individual hips on HMF, but you've got a huge number of them!

@roseseek that's smart, I didn't think of checking on it that way! I will definitely sow the seed to see what might develop, especially if the seedlings would possibly carry the moss traits, that definitely would be fun.

You're welcome, @ElfRosa. I'd guess the chances of anything germinating being "mossed" should be rather high. Fingers crossed!

I saw a rose which came directly from china in a botanical garden once in Sonoma, CA, and its hips were HUGE (2'+ in diameter), and otherwise looked similar to the ones above. The sign said that the huge hips were sold on the street as snack food in china.

@Sheila z8a Rogue Valley OR gorgeous! William Lobb is the moss parent of Ralph Moore's mosses beginning with Fairy Moss then numerous numbered hybrids, many of which were used to create further moss roses, and other of his and other breeders' mosses.
