vintage Brother sewing machine reverse button puzzle

While cleaning the machine the reverse button became detached from the machine and the linking bar seems like a jig saw puzzle to replace where it was located. It is one of those press button types, not the slide up and down levers. The button collar has the stitch length regulator. Has anyone successfully re-installed the linkage?
