How do you use your laundry space? Front loaders are not necessarily all they are cracked up to be! Do you fold in the laundry room? If not then a counter above washer/dryer may be wasted and I would invest more in storage

I'm not sure if I would fold in the room. I might. We do have plenty of storage. What were you thinking? I'm open to ideas. Thanks!

If storage isn’t needed that’s okay. How are things stored in the cupboards? Where are your cleaning items? Could you do with an area for boots and coats etc or is this solely a laundry space?

I use the hooks on wall to store the mops etc...cabinets have cleaning solutions and also a variety of things like batteries, flashlights, bulbs etc...we also hang our gym bags on the hooks. I'm thinking of buying an over the door rack and hang the mops on that and buy a longer nicer hook with a shelf for the wall to replace the one I have now.

Based on what you’ve said and not replacing cabinets I would just update machines, if really needed, add new counter and sink/faucet on other side and then cabinet pulls. Doesn’t seem like much more can be done without a do over

if it were me, I’d take out all the cabinetry across from the machines as the room feels tight too me, unless it is crucial storage for the house (i find it often isn’t) and would put up a fun wallpaper I loved so I liked being in the room

Create an IIdea book for "Laundry Mud Room." Then just do a Houzz search for both "side by side washer dryer" and "stackable washer dryer.: You'll get some great ideas.

You can have front loaders stacked with a dryer on top. It's not complicated at all, though just make sure the electric outlet is reachable with a new configuration.

If you have kids, then put up two rows of more substantial hooks. If you want kids to be able to take off shoes and store backpacks, then take all the doors off the cabinets on the sink wall and have storage shelves and baskets there.

Thanks I like having that storage. The machines will be pushed back more...I'm also trying to see if we can get the hook ups moved back more so I can have the machines more flush with the wall.

i don’t find it difficult to fold laundry using the top of my top load washer and front load dryer. I close the washer lid : ) and don’t see the need for a counter. It may look neater but doesn't add a whole lot to function. Make sure that the cabinets over the wash/dryer are deep enough and low enough for easy access.

Definitely check all measurements. My front loaders stick out way more than their actual depth would suggest.

What are the dimensions of the room? If you make a quick scaled sketch of the room (including dimensions in inches for all walls/windows/doors/etc.) will aid others in coming up with ideas. As @la_la Girl noted in her comment, it seems like a tight aisle between the W/D on one side and the sink + cabinets on the the other side. However, maybe it isn't - it could just be how the photo makes the aisle look.

You could make this into a nice laundry + mudroom if you want - especially with having the outside door in the room.

Question: are there two doors that access garage/outside? It looks like both doors by your wall with the little hooks have dead bolts on them.

Thank you Dani, here are my measurements. I'd like a place to hang my swiffer, place for my hand vac, detergent, some storage. Laundry hamper or basket storage would be nice. Trash can for lint. Place to hang our gym bags when we come home through garage.

Also I am thinking about redoing the whole room insured of just painting cabinets. IKEA has great cabinets in white. The traditional looking ones.

If going with new cabinets, then you can do drawers for the lower cabinets next to the sink.

Honestly, just remove the doors from the cabinets on the sink side and arrange shelving for gym bags, etc. Run a curtain rod across and add curtains with rings. Done! Etsy seamstresses can do it up for you if you're not sewing minded.
