Just completed an exhausting primary bathroom renovation and hopped into another reno with little planning (mistake #1). I've run through several options for this closet but continue hitting roadblocks and need some ideas. We're also trying to keep costs down as closets can run into high $$$$.

We created an entrance from our primary bath into the closet for easy access/not having to walk all the way around to the original pocket door because there is a door to the hallway also and it's inevitably left open and we're hiding in the event someone walks by!

There is an existing pocket door - do we keep it? Get rid of it to have additional wall to put hanging/storage? Will we regret eliminating easier access to the laundry room via the pocket door? The wall behind the ladder that currently has storage on it shares a wall with the laundry room. Initially I was toying with closing up the current pocket door and creating a doorway into the laundry room for easy access for folding, etc. But am I just robbing Peter to pay Paul so to speak? Gaining one wall and losing another?

Originally, if you see the different color strip on the floor, we had double hanging on both sides but it totally closed off the closet when you walked in via the pocket door and you just immediately hit a wall. So we eliminated that with hopes we could put a center island, only to find out (yes poor planning on my part) that we don't have the clearance. Ultimately, our goal is to take the chest and bureau out of our large primary bedroom (to create a small sitting area) and put undergarments, socks, etc in drawers in our closet. I've run the gammet of online tools and all they show is cubbies and hanging space (short). I'd love a combo of drawers, some cubbies only for shoes, and combo of short and some long hanging. Help! All of these angled walls and doorways are just killing every design idea that pops into my brain.

For easier understanding of photos: doorway that is taped with plastic goes into our primary bathroom. The wall to right of that has a small section that is 38" wide or so, then goes back 3.5" and that width is 75". 2nd photo: angled wall is 35" with another small 37" wall to left, then where the current hanging/cubbies is 67.5". Left of pocket door is hollow wall so not much can be hung. "My side" which is behind ladder and has current cubbies is 98". If anyone would prefer a video for clarification I can do so. Measurement plan added. Main questions are: 1) do we close up existing pocket door, losing hallway access to laundry room but gaining closet wall space? Only access to primary closet will be through bathroom 2) keep pocket door, utilize rest of wall space.... 3) how to incorporate more drawer space in this closet, given that we have combination of shorter/longer walls, right angles, etc.
