Pull for bathroom countertop choices

Between these two slabs, which one do you like the most?

The first two pictures are Coit birch wool. The third picture is MSI Izaro. Does anyone know what Birch Wool mimics?

I am going back and forth between these two for my bathroom countertops.

Thank you!

The Birch Wool looks like it is mimicking Vein Cur Travertine.

No way to guess which one would look best in your bathrooms without knowing all the other materials and colors.

Most of the complaints about quartz on these forums seem to be about products from MSI, so make sure you do your research.

@chispa Thank you! This is our current bathroom. We will remove the tile over the bathtub, and probably pick something similar, but bigger to the one we have currently. We may or may not keep the floor tile. Is it better we keep the wall tile and the floor tile the same since it is not a big room?

It’s personal preference but the floor tile is a bit busy for me so I’d probably do a simple white tile in the shower - make sure your pros address the waterproofing if you remove the tile in the shower/tub areas

These counters, your shower tile, and your floor all seem really off to me. Lots of similar muddle but some how they clash. Your bathroom would certainly feel less long and narrow with a different shaped floor tile.

Are you going with a shower curtain? If so, I wouldn't sweat the shower tile too much as it will be concealed most of the time.

Your cabinets are pretty impressive. So much space. I'd find a countertop you love as the start of the show, then get a supporting role floor tile. Then something very plain for the shower.

I'm quite confused about the order of operations though. Your cabinets are already installed but are at risk for damage if you have tile workers in this narrow space and doing any kind of work.

You need to stop right now and come up with a detailed plan. Having 3 different stone-look tiles/counter in the same bathroom does not look good.

@Kendrah I also think I should start with the countertop first because we have more options in tile than countertop. I am trying to decide which is prettier and easier to match later.

@chispa How about using the same tile on wall and floor? Mable look tile similar to Izaro? Is it better if we pick birch wool as countertop because it is even less busier than Izaro even though Izaro is not busy either. I was planning to do one of the two options: 1. same subtle marble look tile on wall and floor. 2. marble look tile on floor and white tile on wall. Any other ideas?

If you want to do the same tile for wall and floor, look for tiles that come in a series.

Polished on the wall, matt on the floor. Since you have a tub, you don’t have to be concerned with that. This would give you even more options if only looking for polished and unpolished.

You have to have a very good eye to mix and match tiles from different brands.

    The counters look similar.

You might have to have the counter installed, then choose the tile.

@eld6161 The two slabs seem totally different for me. Birch wool is more subtle and uniform than Izaro.

Looking again, I would not do an MSI product. What brand is the Wool?

@eld6161 Birch wool is from Coit. They don’t manufacture slabs. I was told this one is imported from Italy or somewhere in Europe.

Personally, I would avoid the fake marble countertop and/or tile look. That type of countertop + shower/floor tile has been used A LOT over the past several years. Tract builders use it all of the time in their homes (the faux marble tiles). It has been overdone and will (hopefully) stop being such a popular selection very soon.

Are you set on using very neutral tiles for the floor and shower walls?

@dani_m08 I think the majority of the builders are still using marble look tiles in the bathrooms. I went to some open houses for new constructions. They either use marble look tile or pure white tiles.

Do you think it is better to stay with neutral tiles? I like things to have a calm and clean feeling.

I am so surprised to see the ratio between these two slabs. I thought majority will choose the marble look one.

I voted for the first slab. Thought the third pic is pretty, I am sick of the white quartz with grey/brown veining. It is SO overdone to me that it doesn't feel special anymore. I really like the slab in the first two pics.

@Nova I am worried that the first slab may look cheap compared to the second one. I feel I can’t go wrong with the second one, but not sure about the first one. I like the calm and clean feeling the first slab gives though.

@fisherpurdue I don't think it looks cheap at all. I think it's beautiful and not so trendy that it'll be an overused fad later.
