Wallpaper. If you want to use peel and stick wallpaper, try doing the bottom of a drawer first to see how easy you find it with some practice. If wallpaper doesn't work for you, try a light grayish blue paint.

I think I would go with wainscoting. The bathroom already has a gorgeous pattern on the floor tiles, so I would not create another standout pattern on the walls. Check guipp-decor.com wall panels! They have some wainscot options in white that will blend out perfectly on your bathroom walls.

the tile floor is a statement pattern, I'd paint rather than paper, so it stays the feature.

I'd start with painting the window wall the same color as the shower tile.

if it doesn't feel too dark, paint the whole room the same.

@Lyn Nielson that is exactly what I was going to suggest... painting the window wall (and window trim a blue like the shower tile because it is odd how the tile overlaps the window.

I think that your floor tile + shower tile are both pretty busy = I wouldn't add wallpaper into the mix.

I also think that the tile overlapping the window looks "off."

Was the tile work in the shower done by a contractor or DIY? The reason I'm asking is because that is the oddest way for a window to be addressed. The contractor should have waterproofed around the window (since part of it is in the shower - it appears that the tile was brought up the wall in line with the shower curb) + used a waterproof pvc trim (window casing) that could have been used continuously around the entire window. It would have looked like it was normal wood window casing - but it would have been waterproof + it would have looked the same all the way around the window.

I couldn't find a good example of a window that was just barely inside of the shower - however, it would work similar to the below that was done horizontally (yours is the same - just vertically having part of window inside the shower:

I think that you could remove the casing that is around the window outside of the shower and install pvc waterproof casing all the way around the window. It really wouldn't be a difficult DIY project.

You'd have to use the correct adhesive for installing it over the tile + caulk the edges with silicone caulk (I think that's correct). You could add some shims underneath the part that won't be one top of the tile in order to make the casing the same around the entire window. If there is a gap by the edge of the casing that is on the drywall, you could add extra pvc edge trim all the way around the casing.

Will you please post a photo showing the shower tile better? We only have a very little glimpse of it currently.

If you color match your paint to a color in the tile, I'd paint the rest of that wall + most likely continue it around the room. You won't want to go too dark on the wall paint (= use the same color of the tile but but lighter) or your vanity will blend into the wall.

I would paint a few shades lighter but in the color family of the tile.

If that shower tile is still available, I would take it all the way to the corner and paint the remaining walls a similar or coordinating color. Also, make window casing adjustments for uniformity. And paint the wood door to match its casing. Love your floor!

What a lovely gesture by your FIL! Is there a reason he couldn't continue the tile to the corner? Perhaps prefacing the request with an apologic "design is a process, and sometimes imagined results differ from real results" speech?

Tile was very $$$ so we only purchased what we needed for the shower.... not taking into consideration how the window was also in that portion of the shower
