If the chair is brown it borders on black. It's really dark. It's not really navy but a dark wedgewood blue.

Perhaps look into the cost of upholstering, as that may help you make up your mind. It’s also hard to get slipcovers to fit well, unless custom made. It’s not that brown and blue don’t go together, it‘s how and I think the rug is an issue.

Accessories have a big influence in pulling a room together. If you could provide a picture of entire room it will help. In the meantime, suggest a neutral rug and repeat its shade in cushion choices and include cushions that also pull in the chairs. Dark tables would do that as well.

Absolutely work cos brown and blue are complimentary colors.

The damask on the chairs is beautiful. Really posh - imo, it’s a keeper.

It really all comes down to what you like and what you’d like to do. Brown and blue absolutely work together; it is really just a matter of how you put it together. You can do a google search and you will find a gazillion rooms with navy and brown. Rooms with navy upholstered pieces and brown wood in furniture, trim, etc. can also be inspiration.

A simple approach could be to tie the pieces in with accessories. A leopard print throw on the sofa would absolutely do it...

Or, another throw in brown or in the color combination.

That is called "full context" before action or comment: ) and that means YOUR actual room, not snippets of a chair you may have, and a couch that may be yours, or not yours just similar, and show your real rug as well, if there is a rug........

Thanks for all the input and inspirations. The sofa and chairs are in different rooms right now. Planning on moving everything in one room. I know brown and navy works with correct accessories to tie everything together, I was concerned that the chairs have too much print to coordinate other things. Once I move stuff around, I’ll add more pictures.

They are beautiful together and can really be a sophisticated color combo when done correctly. Your biggest disconnect here is your rug. find one that uses both colors to connect the different elements together then bring in patterned pillows that do the same. If you want to go a step further do drapery panels in a softer blue or a cream with a tape on the inside lead in a soft blue . It will be lovely.

Yes, the sofa and chairs work together in the same room. The chairs feel a bit at odds with the rug - they get lost in each other. But the sofa and chairs work. Reupholstering will likely cost you more than new chairs.

The simplest — well
Perhaps not quite so simple, but visually!— is to cover the piping detail on the blue sofa in the chocolate shade of the damask chairs. An upholsterer might suggest removing and replacing, but see if the cannot cover over it. If not, perhaps a satin twisted-rope piping in chocolate to give the couch the elegant feel of the chairs?
May I also suggest — tentatively ! — you might add some of the brick red in the fireplace VERY SPARINGLY to the rug — just in touches with s small sponge — best place is in the base/ center of the florals. Any touch of red/coral would make this color scheme sing, bring the architectural touches to life. Lovely set ❤️
