cabinet design dilemma

On the left of my refrigerator panel, I have space to do either 2 x 33 inch cabinets plus 3 inch filler between cabinets and refrigerator panel or 1 x 36 inch cabinet and 1 x 33 inch cabinet. What would you do ? Try to keep same size cabinets or put the 2 different sizes ?

On the right of the refrigerator are 2 x 33 inch cabinets .

I wouldn't break up a countertop with a fridge. I'd place it at the end. It's only a few feet.

Unfortunately, don’t have that option - what you do from ghe 2 cabinet options I have.

If you could let us know why no other options are possible, it would help. The layout could be much better if you can move some things around.

Not a good plan............: ( The cabinets and filler hardly matter, sorry to say.

The far right would have needed a lot of filler to be able to open fridge door. Needed a tall pantry . who designed the kitchen? Contractor or cabinet seller?

I'd back up and fix it.

Sink and range are too close - hope it isn't a two person , both cooking kitchen : )

I like to match the lowers so I would put a single door with filler to the left of the fridge over the microwave. Then match the lower drawers as well as the corner cabinets. Also I agree the sink should be over some with the dishwasher next to it at the end of the peninsula run. I may also be tempted to move the fridge to the right because to have it within the "U" shaped area may cause some traffic issues.

Why not all drawers and IMO the range should be on the wall where the fridge is and the fridge closer to the sink because I see very little storage for pots and d pans on either side of the range plus I nevrer like to pass the range on the trip from fridge to sink if at all possible

why you dont move sink over to long wall [move fridge down] is anybodys guess...can you give more info? explanations help . free up the smallish peninsula as its your feature for the space since there are no windows/ no glass cabinets either ....get pendants and stools. Your plan can use some help.

sink and fridge are good to place on long walls like yours......then island or peninsulas are free and become your feature. You have better opportunity for your space.

If you can’t make any of the layout changes get two 33” cabinets so the four doors are the same size. Good luck!

You've been given some really good suggestions here. Hopefully, you have some flexibility in making changes. If you don't then I agree with Hallett & Co..

    Thanks for the help.

This is pretty much my existing layout with a 2 tier peninsula. we were looking to create more counterspace without moving appliances and water/gas lines. so we are flatenning the peninsula and breaking up the pantry to upper and lowers on the right of the fridge. I do have a large window and dining table in front of the cabinets to the right.

I already placed order for these cabinets - and noticed the size difference in the uppers- so was wondering if the 3 inch filler would be a better option or if that is a too big of a filler for upper cabinets.

Rather Wish you had shown the entire ORIGINAL condition before the folly plan version ensued.

You "saved" little, cost yourself a better design in what might have been simple changes to electrical and plumbing .

    what "window, what table".....where?

removing the two tier setup is a nice idea except your space there will be full of people objects and typical kitchen mess...and you wish to reveal that to the maximum possible? You could probably utilize the cabinets ordered and rearrange into a much better configuration.....in the future if you spent a little time on this now you would reap rewards.

The least expensive mistake to fix, is the one caught in time......not after you have to live with it.

What is preventing you from moving the refrigerator cabinet to the end? It's fairly easy to relocate a fridge vs. a DW or range/cooktop. If you are still able to change the size of a cabinet and add 3" of filler, it seems like you could move your refrigerator to a place that makes more sense. It is pretty easy to extend a water line if your fridge needs one for an internal ice maker.

Regarding Beverly's suggestion - I'm not sure how far the wall comes out (or if it could be made shorter) - you'd need to determine how much room you'd need to open the door fully.

My idea was the same as Jan's (see Jan, I've been listening to all the advice you provide in posts!) - move the fridge over as far to the right as possible + add a small cabinet in between fridge and wall in order to provide enough room for door to open fully.

The two photos below are the opposite of your layout - your fridge will move closer to the wall on the right.

This is why it is important to have the full context of the space, diagrams and images would help. @User said "I do have a large window and dining table in front of the cabinets to the right." Moving the fridge down sounds like it may put it in the dining space.

There's NOTHING involved in moving a water line to the fridge. NOTHING.

Second to Norwood Architects' comment. Hopefully you can utilize any of the suggestions given by the others.

For the cabinets to the left of fridge, would recommend going with the 2 equal sized cabinets.

Thank you ! The 3 inch filler hopefully doesn’t look bad if hidden by the refrigerator panel a little bit. I will see if I can incorporate other suggestions

    I’d go for the 2 @ 33” cabinets.

What we are all saying ( to a degree ) is 3" of filler is a non problem, even you will not notice if the fridge is looming in the middle of the darn wall : ) EVERY fridge is to some degree, the elephant in the space . Hence the marketplace offers up counter depth, integrated, built in, cabinet clad!!

Draw or provide a cad style FLAT on paper 2 dimensional plan the kitchen and what surrounds the kitchen itself , which means WALLS. Had you done that to begin? uhhhh yeah.. : ) Better late than never and the fix might be sooner than later.
