IMO. Lamps need to be smaller, trim around the firebox needs to be even on both sides, fire screen should be higher, maybe a hearth stone would help..

I see a few issues with the fireplace that the application below resolves. The screen is the wrong size, the wood trim around the opening needs to go and the opening is off-center. Also, those slots in the stones cannot be completely covered, otherwise the fireplace can overheat.

Here is an example of a way to hide all of this using metal surrounds. The outer surround is stainless steel. The inner surround and door stand out from the outer surround about 1/2", allowing are to feed into the slots. This is all easily installed by someone who is mildly handy.
