Awww....what a sweet guy. It's so hard when you feel helpless and powerless to make them feel better. And then you have to put them through a lot of poking and prodding and they can't understand why you let that happen. I hope you find out something soon.

We worry about our pets because the role they play in our lives is beyond measure. I do hope you get answers and sweet sweet boy recovers completely - he is adorable! We have an appointment 2 weeks out with a veterinary eye specialist for our girl - hoping for an easy remedy.

Cornell is amazing. I lived an hour away for many years and it was the gold standard for pet care. Also, I once almost killed my golden/chow mix. He got some turkey and quickly developed pancreatitus. It ended well, but I can relate to those scary days of uncertainty. Hope your cutie feels better!

Ugh....I'm so sorry. He's adorable.

Our maltese mix has IBD, confirmed with ultrasound, scope and biopsy. It took a long time to diagnose.

Sometimes it's random tiny water-food barfs with nothing more. Other times it's episodes where she's barfing large volumes of stomach acid alone or combined with large food barfs. Luckily she's only six pounds!

When it is really bad, we have to stop all food and water for 24 hours, sometimes a little longer. It's hard to do, but that's how the system calms down the inflamation. Same protocol is used for Pancreatitis.

Long term treatment involves steroids, but she also has a heart mumur and can't make that a permanent protocol. So when we have an especially bad episode we put her on one for no more than a week.

We're down to feeding ID Kibble only. Even the ID canned started making her sick. She gets zero other foods. If she becomes sensitive to the kibble, I don't know what we'll do.

Hopefully either they will find something soon and/or he'll be on the mend himself. They always amaize me how they bounce back.

1929Spanish - IBD is one of the possibilities, so if that ends up being it I would love to learn from your experience. I kind of discounted IBD when they listed it bc this has been entirely a front end problem. His back end is/has been entirely normal throughout. 🤷‍♀️ However everything you listed has been happening here. Same symptoms can have so many causes, so I guess that's why they're methodically testing so many things for him.

He’s adorable! I hope they can figure out what’s going on with the little guy. I saw an interesting video a Pediatric ER doctor had made about the danger of using wire grill brushes because the metal can break off, adhere to the grill and get transferred into your food. It can cause all kinds of problems and from what I’ve read, it‘s good to know what you‘re looking for because sometimes the small pieces get hidden. Do NOT get an MRI if you think you might have ingested something like this. It could kill you. I thought I’d post this just in case your dog could have ingested something like this.

So sorry another fur baby is having a rough time. He's adorable and I hope he's soon back to his normal self.

I'm currently going through the same thing with my Lab. We're trying Prilosec for 2 weeks as well as switching to a sensitive stomach food, and will do an endoscopy if that doesn't resolve things. Praying we both get some answers soon!

I had to start feeding my dog an ID food about 2yrs ago. She was having problems at the other end. She is not a great drinker, so I feed canned.

She turned 17yo yesterday.

So sorry your adorable pup is having these problems. Hoping they are able to figure out his issue soon and that he has a smooth recovery.

Well. We have a diagnosis, confirmed by biopsy....

It is indeed IBD, as 1929Spanish talked about above.

I am flabbergasted. This is clearly why I am not a doctor. :-) I had no idea IBD could present as a totally stomach focused problem.

It's not necessarily an easy path from here -but now we know what we're dealing with, and I suppose it could be a whole lot worse too. (The vet had mentioned some kind of lymphoma based on the GI inflammation. So yes, I'll take IBD over cancer anyway!)

this is the steroid thats been recommended

OT: I put liquid Budesonide in my twice-daily nasal rinses. It helps keep nasal inflammation and post-nasal drip to a minimum. PND is one of the things responsible for a persistent cough I had last year that led to a lung cancer diagnosis. Right now, things are good. :)

He is definitely doing better!! So happy I could cry. Almost no regurg on the new food, and he's also getting B12 supplements bc that was low also due to this diagnosis. He is happy, eyes are bright, he is playing with a toy right now. He hasn't done that in about 2 weeks. YAY!

Hates the new food though. Picture an old lady sitting on the floor trying to hand feed bits of moist ick to a dog - who is looking at me saying this stuff is garbage! 🙁😄 It is some low fat pork loaf pate. Dog says 0/10, would not recommend. 😄

Vet said we can get his beloved chicken in a kibble that has been hydrolyzed to remove all allergens and is good for him. He likes kibble, he loves chicken - he has never turned down any chicken kibble in his life. So I am hoping that holds and I can give him something he likes.

One tiny bag costs as much as my weekly grocery bill. And so it goes. Anything for this dog. 💜
