The Elkay Quartz Luxe remains the superior composite sink material.

☝️ Joe knows these things, but I’m just going to remind you that there are fantastic stainless steel workstation sinks out there, and long-term, you might be happier with one of those.

2 questions:

1. How much better is the Elkay Quartz Luxe than the Blanco Silgranit?
2. Do you know how the design of the cavity and accessories of the Elkay vs Blanco workstation sinks compare? (Quite different with the angled edge in the Blanco using the accessory holder for stainless trays compared to the more traditional flat edge of the Elkay with wood handles for trays)

@eam44, yeah, the stainless has much more geometrical design freedom. But we are doing a soapstone counter and don't love the look of stainless against it.

Curious Michael if you chose one or the other and your thoughts on it?

We went with the Blanco. Don't have either installed yet. It did feel like the Elkay material was superior, but the accessories appeared to be far nicer with Blanco

Asking for advice and then choosing the one that is not recommended, why even ask?

I have no experience with Elkay but I do have a blanco sink installed by the previous owners less than 4 years prior to our purchase of the house. The last owners were rough on the kitchen and the sink has several gouges but we have also added a couple of small ones even with being careful. The sink is one of the black colors, we too have soapstone, and it is difficult to keep it looking nice and clean. I used a grid in the bottom for a couple of years and that just made it harder to keep clean. I hope to replace the sink one day but other projects have come up. My choice would be stainless, the silgranite never feels as clean to me as stainless or enameled cast iron, both of which we had in our previous house with soapstone counters.
