They look great. I agree that a runner is safer on wooden steps and something that works with the rest of your decor shouldn’t be hard to find.

Oh the stencils are great!!!! That may be what I was looking for.

I purchased some of these as a temporary fix while I was waiting to have my stair treads replaced/stairway redone. My project was delayed by the contractor - so, I needed them in a hurry before Christmas - and they delivered them to me in FOUR days (typical lead time is 2-3 weeks). Shipping is free.

I now have them on the basement stairs (we will be refinishing the basement in the next year or so). They are great because there are no nails or adhesive needed to install them - they just have some grippy material on the bottom side. They can be removed easily (just pick it up - and you can just lay them back down - there isn't a set number of times that you can put them off and on) + if one is damaged, you can just replace it vs. replacing an entire runner.

Also, you can have a custom sized runner made for your hallway + a custom area rug to fit the dimensions needed for your landing.

They have a broad range of prices depending upon which carpet you select (+ depending on the width and depth needed for each tread - they are custom made for you):
