Foot pulls for tilt out cabinet?

Day 1 using this dual tilt out trash cabinet and so far I don’t like it at all.
I didn’t think to account for the arc so I have to use much smaller cans.
Second issue is having to use hands to open it. I obviously knew that’s how it works but I’m accustomed to a trash can with no lid so this cabinet is good in theory, but not in practice.
Are there any foot operated mechanisms to open it? And would I need to know all sorts of dimensions and arc etc.? I’m ridiculously bad at that.
Or what about those cabinets that you push to open?
I’m neither handy nor crafty. I might have someone who can help, but I’m not sure…
Am I pretty much stuck using the handles?

That Servo looks great. I’m learning the hard way—and tossing away 💰along the way 😑

We need a stand alone drawer cabinet though because we have absolutely no other cabinet to use. I feel like I looked all over the place and didn’t find such a thing. At least nothing that would fit perfectly in the place it needs to go. Again, no other options for placement. Maybe I need to use different search words.

Also, I want something completely hands free

Sounds like you need a freestanding trashcan with a motion activated pop up lid. If you ever remodel getting the trashcan installed pull out installed in a line with the sink and dw would be a priority

We did have the freestanding with motion activated lids but we really want them out of sight

Then you need a new kitchen layout with trash cans integrated into the kitchen cabinets. You are literally describing what you want and then saying it’s not what you want.

Sorry…you’re absolutely right. The biggest problem is that I DON’T want this kitchen! For that matter, I don’t want the entire townhouse. Just trying to make the best with VERY with limited options. Ah well, such is life. Thanks for sharing!

Perhaps you could convert the tilt-out cabinet to a pull-out cabinet such as one of these Rev-a-shelf waste containers re-using your existing door(s).

    Ahh, definitely worth looking into

We have pull-outs and tilt-outs, and honestly.... I like the tilt out better. Neither are hands-free, obviously; but I think the tilt-out moves more easily, there's less hardware to get messed up, and when convenient for my workflow, it's easy to pull the trash can out of the cabinet and move it to where I want it to be (eg next to the sink if I'm working with a bunch of messy things that need to be transported to the trash) (I did not design this kitchen, and the trash can is 10 feet away from the sink). All that to say -- see if you demo a pull-out before you decide to do all the work to switch.

Thank you so much! Mine is also a bit away from the sink. And thanks for mentioning that you just pull it out and bring it closer as needed. That makes perfect sense!

@nicolecatalano28 When I think about the *years* it took me to realize I could do that.... hahahah

    Right?!

If you have a trash pullout, you can install a foot pedal that will allow you to open it hands-free.

I know that Häfele makes one. Others might as well.

    I’ll check it out. Thanks!

I have the "step to open" Häfele one. It's great. You step enough that the "drawer" glides out enough to use the trash can, and then I can either hip check it back in with the soft close glides, or use the edge pull that I have on the drawers. I didn't want to mess with the servo drive openers and wiring inside the cabinets (even though I have pop up receptacles in the island) so went with these. Nicely engineered.

Another Häfele endorsement…good to know. Thanks!
