island pendant spacing

Do my pendants look properly spaced, or should I have my builder move them apart (I’d rather not have to do that, unless it seems critical)? They are 21”w and I’m planning to put them 36” above the counter.

how long is the island? roughly 24"-30" apart 6"-12" from the ends of the island

That would make me crazy, I would want them centered over the island. Maybe makes no difference but just to my eye it looks like a swing and a miss......................

The island is about 120” long, they are centered, but there is seating along the front and right side, so the cabinetry is not symmetrical.

I expect there will be about 20” between them as it is now.

I would hang three lights, one centered

These are things we obsess about and no one notices after the fact!

Don't forget that perfect symmetry is only observed while standing at that one particular spot.

Once you add the stools you will visually fill in the right side of the island with the overhang and balance things out.

I saved myself the agony by skipping pendants over my island! LOL. But I did place two at my large triple window, one on each side of the sink.

This is the recommended spacing from the Visual Comfort website.

Perhaps the lights need wider spacing.

Maybe the medium size would look better in your kitchen & maybe the white is too much contrast. The black would work with your finishes.

The seating on one end and not the other throws it off a bit, I would still centre them to be honest.

Can you post a picture with the chairs that will be used for seating?

Thanks, they unexpectedly installed them today. Like Chispa mentioned, it really is not noticeable unless you stand in one place (that will eventually be occupied with furnishings).

They look to close together for me.

I would leave them - if they bother you in a year then just pay to have them moved, it’s not a big project

I agree with la_la. It looks like a lovely window filled space.

I think they would have looked better spaced a little further apart, but they don’t look bad as they are. Once you get everything furnished and decorated, I think you will be fine with the placement.

Your kitchen is looking gorgeous so far! I would love to see the finished result. Is that soapstone? I love the full backsplash. Great choice doing the dark electrical outlets so they blend in. I love it!
