Hi. Thanks for your response. The above photo shows the original "house wrap" and the start of the front Hardie-board shingles (Cobblestone color). We are having to start over because my installer used the white "Belly Band" as the "starter board" .,.. and added additional rows of shingles from the bottom up. What kind of drip edge and flashing should I use so that the shingles overlap the brick and the corners are "woven"?

We are replacing the white vinyl siding that was installed in the early 90s. The original house had real cedar shingle siding and white louvered shutters. The brick is "reclaimed" multi-color. We added the Certainteed Weathered Wood roof a few years ago.

Our installer assumed that we wanted a white "belly band" and corner trim boards. I do not like the stark white trim. Installer also did not use any other barriers except ZIP tape and butt-flashings between shingle sheets.

We don't like this white band where siding meets the brick. Suggestions? Can I use a drip edge? Should it be copper *instead of aluminum) since I am using cement-based Hardie-board?

I know this is not your vision, but my goal here is to help blend the roof and brick which to my eye, do not go well together.

A darker color will help make the 2nd floor recede a bit too.

You said in another post you were considering doing something to the brick -- still in the plans?

Ideally, the shingles will overlap the brick. Flashing and other details depend on your house.
