Are you going to put on a sealer over the stain? I've heard of people using a marine grade sealer on wood outdoors. That expensive door would probably be better protected with some sealer of some kind.

I agree on the black hardware or even the oil rubbed type of finish. Brass wouldn't look right if that's the other choice.

Match the finish of the onion lamp. I like the stain gloss used on this door...very New England. I also love the trim over top of door on the home you show. Simple Greek Doric.
