for me, glossy tiles in the shower is just what I want. a slick finish that can be cleaned easily.

IMO the same tile for bathroom floors and shower walls is my usual choice . I do agree glossy much easier to clean but often a bit too glossy . I use 12 x24 porcelain for both and do not have an issue with cleaning shower walls

patricia colwell….this is current bath. tub is being removed, shower slightly wider and cabinet where tub wall recessed. so, are you saying you would use the same matte porceain tile for the entire room?

You can also mix tiles ... there isn't just one way to design!

In one of my guest bathrooms I used a matte 12x24 linen-look tile on the bathroom floor with matching 1x3 mosaic in the shower. On the walls I used a glossy 24x24 marble-look tile.

How glossy a tile appears in a shower will depend on how much direct natural light gets to that area.
