Are you also painting the cabinets? What color is the new backsplash?

With black counters and white backsplash and cabs, I would do a cream or yellow paint on the walls that ties in the floor tiles.

It looks like your walls and cabinets are both chantilly lace? And you're painting both?

If so, yes, simply white will seem less stark than the chantilly lace, but it's still fairly bright. A lot does depend on lighting and surrounding colors. I do find that with time it can start to read as more yellow than it does initially.

My kitchen cabinets are simply white, as well as a bathroom floor. The paint on the cabinets is the advance and the floor is the BM floor paint. I feel like the bathroom floor can start to look a little yelllow (wall tile is lovely mustard from the 70's), but I never feel that the kitchen reads at all yellow.

Sounds like if you're really trying to get away from a stark feeling, you might also consider white dove. Very neutral but a little less bright. It might work.

Either way, do you have time to order some samples from Samplize? Seems like it would be very important to try your options against the floor.
