82“ = 41 to 54. Have you taped out to test and would round be considered as it may not feel as large visually.

As well, the style can make a difference volume wise.

My sofas , one is slightly smaller than yours, are positioned in an ”L” configuration, i have a 42” round coffee table but I think I could have gone larger. I prefer round because I’m a klutz, less knee banging, but perhaps you’re more graceful than I am. :) I’ll measure them & respond back.

Okay, just measured, one is 85” wide, other is significantly shorter, 64” wide, round coffee table 42”.

I have the same sofa configuration and size as you do. My coffee table is 48” square and it feels and looks right.

I wouldn’t want it smaller.

You can find 48" square tables at times, but they are not plentiful. You can also consider putting two 24 x 48 tables together to meet your requirement.

Additionally, you can place four 24 x 24 tables together. Using tables that are ganged together can be very flexible for use.

In order to ground the room in general and importantly the seating area, suggest:

Adding a rug no matter the coffee table‘s size and ensure it ties in the flooring, couch and coffee table.

Instead of replacing the side table (which is awkward there) consider a console table behind the couch.

A lot of photos you see out there have the coffee table too close to the sofas. I always test by sitting down and crossing my legs naturally and seeing if my feet hit the coffee table. If they do, move the table out a few inches, or if that isn't possible, then get a smaller table.

I’m with K Laurence, after years of knocking into the edges of my glass top coffee table, always bruising me, I decided to purchase a round ottoman that lifts for storage and can be used as a laptop spot or a dinner plate when I want to watch
