    Looks like Black Moon Soapstone to me. You can have your fabricator gauge the thickness down to 3/8-3/4" for the backsplash.

    I agree with Daniel! It's hard to tell unless up close. The Honed might make the color a little bit lighter so I'm thinking it may be leathered. Here's an up close of Via Lactea Leathered
