How would you fix this?

I feel that the previous homeowner kind of ruined this kitchen by bringing the cabinets all the way into the nook, as well as the backsplash. I wish the windows weren’t there and then I could add some uppers. The backsplash needs to be a neutral tile IMO, and possibly even change the counters as they are too loud for my liking. But how do I fix the nook area? Tile the whole entire wall perhaps?

Well, there’s nothing subtle about that backsplash. It would be great to see that go.

If you are removing cabinets you could put actual furniture in that spot, a sideboard or bar cart, or buffet. Another option would be to create a window seat there. Just treat the end of your kitchen as the end of your kitchen. End the tile where the cabinets end. The wall of the nook can just be painted.

Wow, that is a lot of cabinetry. Perhaps you could remove a section between the upper cabinets and the end of the cabinet run which would give you two sections of cabinetry. One could be used for the kitchen and the other could service the nook area. You could perhaps turn the nook cabinets into a breakfast or coffee bar.

i like the stone but then I look at that as someones "expression" and wouldnt rip it out . instead ....areas to adjust.....as thats your question 1. the bar stools and table /chairs are mismatched....figure out your style for seating 2. different pendants-likely larger. maybe coordinate w a fixture over the table 2. large area rug under table w runners /mats in kitchen zone. 3. removal of blinds from little windows 4. add hardware to cabinetry 5, later on the old style base cabinets will need to be swapped out for drawers and the long straight run can be adjusted [a full remodel] ..till then look at the stone and cabinets as a backdrop and do the various other things in the space .

can you get your personal style in there? it would help for now

    Did you just move in?

There is nothing to love in that cabinetry. The weeny windows are useless and disruptive. Clearly yet another "Florida does this" not so great idea"

A 24" knee wall ending at right of the windows, to END the actual working kitchen and you get rid of the windows.

The kitchen is a boatload of inexpensive/badly stained cabinets. Nary a DRAWER base in sight, it's all inconvenient low door bases.

I would try to ignore all you do not love, for a bit - including counter tops and back splash. I'd say it needs a massive paint job, but would not say it here, based on those lower Door bases, and my bet is that the cabinetry is cheap, not deserving.

Show more pictures from all the corners, the adjacent etc.

In short, delay......I'd not invest a lot of lipstick on something you want to be a lot different. Hi/low cabinet upper gone too: )

You could go right over the windows, but that will not fix what's wrong in this kitchen. Any solution is likely to be expensive.

For me the nook furniture screams formal and the kitchen not so uch. The stools and the nook stuff do not work together either , Staggered uppers are just stupid . A strange island shape . Just many things not right here. The windows are the best part of the space . Do you really need a nook space for eating? I think thta would be aperfect spot for 2 nice chairs a teable and great for a friend yand you to share a coffee or a wine . You need proper cabinets that go to ceiling a tall cabinet at the end of what should be the kitchen space to end that space , IMO the kitchen is gut job dated cabinets not designed well are never going to be good . If the nook is a keeper for eating then IMO right now remove the tile off that wall in the nook to end the kitchen Then thta row of cabinets can be used for sidhes you you do not use daily and maybe even a bar area. I would wait right now and spend time figuring out what you need in the kitchen a plan for that . Usually that takes about 3-6 months of life in the space before doing much at all. When you really want help we will ask for a to scale floor plan of the wholespace showing every window, doorway where those lead and the entire spac maeasuremnts clearly marked possted her ein jpeg format in a comment . Along with that we need your wants and needs in a kitchen , info about how many cooks are there a lot of thought goes into kitchen design long before anything gets touched

Never seen such a long line of cabinets. Do you really use them all? If it were me, I would build a knee wall at the lower cabinets where the upper cabinets end now and demolish the cabinets beside the dining table. Connect the three small windows and make one horizontal high window for light from the side, then buy a nice buffet for under the windows that compliments the dining table and adds back some storage. This will visually separate the dining area and kitchen and will be a relatively minimal expense. Then if funds are remaining you can consider changing out the backsplash and counters.

You need to get rid of that brown speckled stone anyway, so get rid of the back splash going all the way into the nook. make an end/edge to it somehow. And have the windows closed if you do not need them and add uppers. Or - make that area separate from the kitchen and add cabinets floor to ceiling - not sure if there is a panty somewhere else, but that could be the pantry.

And get rid of that hard tile - hard on legs and hard on any glass dropped. Use real wood, or even VCT with high gloss coating. Ceramic tile was all the rage in the 80's for low-end houses and never looked good. Houses in areas of the country built on slabs look good in terrazzo flooring, but better if covered in wood and softened. Houses are best if built over a basement or at least a crawl space.

And the upper cabinets at different levels looks silly. And having space above with the cabinets not all the way to the ceiling just creates a space for oil and dirt to land - does not make sense to stop cabinets short of the ceiling.

Never liked sinks or stoves in an island. A table makes more sense. High bar stools are uncomfortable and a silly choice - not sure why so many people go that way - maybe just because it was a fad. best to have a table level island for prep work. Re-do the entire kitchen. Use nice what appliances - always in style, never out of style.
