I think the vertical part of mansard roofs look better with painted wood shingles. If you want to stick with asphalt shingles, I'd go for a color, like Hunter Green or Biscayne Blue

WW tends to be a neutral color and takes on the feel and color look of the surrounding colors more than most. Have the roofer put up a few shingle, never make final selections from pictures and or small sample boards.

Ours has a definite brown cast.

Our house is part traditional red/brown brick mix with some very light tan steel siding, which as noted by millworkman may have some effect on the appearance of our shingles.

I tend to lean towards a medium gray since your home is neutral. And for copper gutters, trim, whatever, I think a gray with some depth complements that better.
