Size and layout of the shower will help dictate this as well. Post up a floor plan with dimensions.

The shower space is currently 900 x 900. The frameless shower screen will be 1000. The room is approx. 2.4 x 2.4. We are trying to decide whether to have a niche or a shelf along the wall. The structure of the long wall in the shower is not suitable for a niche but we could move the shower head to the longer wall to spray towards the shower screen and put the niche in the wall between the toilet and bathroom. All thoughts and suggestions welcomed.

The site is USA. Feet and inches. You have a 35 " x 35" shower.

You don't need a niche ....Use a corner shelf in a solid surface 12" across the front, use two if you like. Or use a four inch deep shelf UNDER the shower head wherever you locate the plumbing in same solid surface. Uncomplicated, and zero leak issues, tile issues, trim edge issues,.

A shampoo bottle isn't decorative, deserves no highlight: )
