Color for inside of kitchen drawers

My counters are sort of dark raspberry. The cupboards are kind of a rust color. (I know, the counters don't go that great with the cupboards. Try to ignore that.) I want to paint the drawer interiors a color that won't get dirty quickly. Currently they're beige and that shows dirt.

    Paint inside the drawers? Really?

I’ve always just used wipeable drawer liners.

Yes, really. They're already painted. I want to change the color.

This is why God invented contact paper.

Drawer liners or contact paper are better. Replace when dirty, damaged, or you want something new.

Chipping won't be an issue because ^^

They will also help keep things from sliding around in the drawers.

Well, so far the only answer I've received is "Don't do what you want to do." I've already decided to do this. It's an old house and I'm refurbishing the kitchen. I'm just asking for feedback on the color, not why I shouldn't paint my drawers. How about dark red?

Maybe match the countertops since they are already painted.

PS. The inside of my custom cabinets are pink. The shelves are pink Formica but the drawer boxes and cabinet boxes are matching lacquer .The drawers are lined with clear cabinet liner so the bottoms are protected. There have been no chips in several years.

I would not add another shade of red. You already have two reds that clash. Gray, Blue or Green would all hide dirt and go with both raspberry and rust.

Paint is the worst possible surface for wear on a working impact part of a kitchen. If you are freshening up your kitchen, order new clear stained wood drawers, with modern high quality glides, and attach the old drawer faces to them. https://www.barkerdoor.com/Baltic-Plywood-Dovetail-Drawer-Boxes-p/drawerbox-baltic-dovetail.htm

Monique, not everyone can afford new drawers. The drawers are already painted. It makes sense to refresh the paint. The current drawer faces have no redeeming qualities.

Sounds like you need new Ikea. Not peeling pink drawers.

Good grief, cease and desist with all this silliness. Have y'all never lived in or at least visited an apartment? Do you think landlords replace drawers when they get grungy? Millions up people paint drawers every year. Probably tens of millions around the world. Think of the ecological impact of all those drawers y'all want to add to the landfall. Verily, this is one of the weirdest forums I've ever visited. So much trolling and silly talk. Now stop this nonsense so I can go paint my drawers berry or sage green. Probably sage green.

Usually any question like this escalates to "You need to gut the kitchen and start over." Rarely it goes as far as "You have to sell the house and buy a different one.

HAHA!!! That's funny! Don't worry, I'm going to paint the drawers so I can move to a different town or even state. If that doesn't satisfy everyone, I also have dual citizenship and can move to another country. Would that solve this whole draw thang?

Navy maybe? Navy/rust, navy/raspberry work, so should look nice.

you're missing all the fun...there are amazing contact paper selections now. i doubt there are millions of people painting the insides of the drawers every year as you claim with all these papers available. I almost bought some of the really cool ones from online sites about two years ago but I found almost as interesting ones in the hardware store at a bit cheaper.

Can you show a photo of your kitchen with the rust cabinets and dark raspberry countertop? Sounds like an interesting combo, and I am intrigued! I am picturing a beautiful Autumn color palette in your kitchen.

If you are not comfortable posting the kitchen, maybe just a close up of the rust cabinet color and a close up of the raspberry countertop color?

If you know the exact brand and color name of the rust paint, or the name of the countertop that would be helpful.

In order to give the best help, we need to see the exact colors you are working with. Thanks!

To the color question, dark colors will show every bread crumb, as well as any scratch from a metal utensil, revealing the beige beneath. And, be harder to see inside. Have you ever seen a Bellini purse? They have bright colored linings and make it so much easier what is in the depths of the purse! What about a rich tan? it will be light enough to see, and the right tan can go with rust or raspberry. And if it doesn’t? well, the drawer is usually closed anyway! Ooh, how about a turquoise?

I know you already made up your mind to paint your cabinets. Most of my house is sage color so I’m sure that color will look nice. I’m remodeling my kitchen and liked light sage cabinets but wanted something different so I decided on Sherwin Williams Stardew a blue/gray color to match our countertop. Our island cabinets will be white oak. I did find lots of beautiful drawer liners on Amazon. I had a hard time deciding because there was so many to choose from. I’m getting brushed gold hardware so I decided on gold roses over white.
