You have a Saint Bernard, "don't wash" floors daily. On any floor but a tile, you must SWEEP or vacuum daily. .....because no matter how "forgiving" to crumbs dust, grime, you will destroy a finish on that floor in short order.

YES, a thousand times YES. Will look beautiful, goes with everything, and will last forever. If nicked or worn, can be refinished many times over. Use a medium brown stain, like Provincial or Special Walnut.

We have medium oak cabinets with a natural oak wood floor

We also have dogs and any medium or dark floor will show pet hair and scratches so go with lighter floors
