It's non-descript, gray, and blah, to be pairing with beautiful warm wood white oak cabinets. Why do you think so many people are buying so much warm Taj Mahal? Pale greens, warm tans, and even the now looked upon in horror of Venetian Gold look outstanding with white oak. Fashion is fickle, and there's nothing wrong with all the gold granites, at all. Or, soapstone, and other similar charcoal tones look great. Honed or leathered Uba Tuba is one of the least expensive options and that hint of green in the charcoal looks wonderful with white oak.

That River Green is beautiful! I'm a fan of Costa Esmeralda, too. (Also the leathered Uba Tuba.) OP I'd recommend taking a sample cabinet door to the stone yard (or multiple yards if you can) and placing the door next to all kinds of different slabs.

I'd also recommend doing a search for Mont Blanc quartzite on this forum. There are several threads (like these) from people who have had staining problems. Taj is a harder quartzite, so that and its beauty make it popular. If you're absolutely set on Mont Blanc, I'd ask your fabricator how to prevent staining.

If you are going to pick a quartzite that is prone to staining, then I would also look at marbles like Danby, Mystery White and Onda Doro. The slabs I saw of those marbles a few years ago had warm gold/brown veins which would look good with stained wood.

Balance of the kitchen, floors, cabinets, open concept, appliances will all affect this decision as well. Context is key and the lack there of makes it tough to offer much.

That is so devoid of color than it's just horribly bland. You need some color in there.

I ahve always loved the depth in UbaTuba it remnds of looking into stream with rocks at the bottom I agree the slabs are okay but a bit boring and IMO fake stone tries hard to look that so puts me off. Waht is the pic you show ? Is that what you are planning, is it your space in the pic I am just asking. That large window seems to be giving lots of light .
