$6K is a lot unless 120v is your only option to an electrician running a new 220v circuit and line.

Looks like everybody here has opinions (me included) but, so far, nobody here actually has one of the Copper ranges. Also, as I understand it, the Copper range's battery is a primary power source --- it is what enables Copper ranges to run with as much stovetop and oven power as regular electric and induction ranges connected to 240v outlets even though the Copper is only plugged into a 120v outlet. Having some back-up power capability is merely a bonus. So, rather than being aimed at HU9518etc's "scientifically illiterate stubborn off gridders," the design is aimed at urban kitchens in the many existing older buildings that were constructed and wired back-in-the-day without 240v outlets. For those, retrofitting 240v wiring and outlets now is sometimes exorbitantly expensive or outright impractical.

It is a lot of money -- and aside from the "off-gridders" use case a user mentioned above, it was right for us because it didn't require us to upgrade our electrical panel or outlets. We have a small house with a small panel, and our Copper was installed last month. Really enjoying it so far -- despite some hiccups with the new company (manufacturing at scale; minor issues) and delivery (it's heavy; we live upstairs) -- it's whisper-quiet, and doesn't pollute our house. Wish we had the option years ago.
