    It is a lousy "L".

Anyone offering legitimate responses to your question would have to know how and what you cook

How is this an L what is the big rectangle in the middle I do not understand what you are doing on the right with fridge and Bev? and another sink Have no idea I see no drawers for base cabinets / Why is your builder involved in this what you need is an independant KD . How is that weird wing on the right supposed to function , maybe I am missing something.

Is that a pantry type space behind the refrigerator?

What is to the right of the refrigerator, a wet bar?

It will be helpful to know how you use a kitchen, for how many people, is there much cold prep, etc.

But I know a first observation will be to move the dishwasher from between the sink and cooktop.

Dw on the left so not to interfere with prep space between the range and cleanup sink. All lowers where possible should be wide drawers. 36- 48". Pan storage in drawers around the range is easiest in wide drawers. At least 3 inches is lost in a drawer to slide spacing. An exhaust hood is most often 6 inches wider than the range.

This layout is functional but has a couple of points to check:

    1. Work Triangle: The Fridge (36") seems quite far from the sink/main prep area. Confirm if that walking distance works for your cooking style.
    2. Island: Clarify the function of the central island/peninsula. Is the 'Mic' (Microwave) built-in or on the counter? Countertop placement will eat up valuable prep space.
    3. Clearance: Ensure the walking paths around the island have at least 36-42 inches of clear space, especially opposite the oven/range.

Looks good to proceed once those points are addressed!

So this is more of a Broken L with a Scullery attached. Random thoughts:

    - 18" cabinets hold so little; the necessary hardware eats up so much of their space. I'd try to get rid of them.

    - If GAR is garbage, you don't need 24". I'd suggest you NOT encase your garbage in expensive cabinetry. I'd rather see a little "cove" for it at the end of the island -- then you can bring it over to the sink or out to the deck when you need it elsewhere.

    - Where is your recycling?

    - Switch your lower cabinets to drawers -- except in the random odd spot where you have a specific need for a traditional cabinet. This board is united on very few things, but kitchen cabinet drawers and one-bowl large sinks are two of them.

    - Love the big window over the sink. Do consider what type of window treatment you'll use -- a huge window like that is lovely during the day but becomes a huge black box after sunset.

    - As another poster suggested, definitely move the dishwasher to the left of the sink ... you always want your dishwasher "on the edge of the action".

    - Think through the details you want for your sink ... garbage disposal, etc. The sink is the single most used item in your kitchen, and you don't want the details left to chance.

    - Think twice about that 6-burner range and will rarely be useful. It's a space hog and may require extra support under the flooring. I'm not loving its location -- I'd consider moving either it or the sink to the island.

    - The island is 5' wide. Can you (easily) reach to clean in the middle of it? Go out and look at examples of real islands; I suspect you'll find that 3 1/2' is as big as you'd really want. 4' is pushing it. Lowes or Home Depot have sample islands -- go measure them and ask yourself if you like their width (hint: you will).

    - Do you anticipate seating or "back side storage" in this island? Your plans'll look different depending upon what you intend.

    - You want your major appliances to be at least 4' apart /no more than 9' apart. Your refrigerator is pushing this distance.

    - Why do you want an oversized refrigerator? It'll cost a fortune, and 48"ers don't always come with an ice maker. Standard sizes are standard for a reason. Consider a standard sized refrigerator in the kitchen ... and a dorm-fridge in the Scullery /Pantry to hold drinks.

    - Imagine you put a bunch of glasses into the dishwasher ... now you have to move them across the kitchen to the Beverage Center's upper cabinets. You'll have to make multiple trips. In a better plan, the dishwasher would be nearer the cabinet that stores glassware (plates aren't such a problem because you can carry a bunch at once).

    - Where do you see silverware being stored? Is it near the dishwasher?

    - Consider a pass-through between the Scullery and the Beverage Center.

    - I'd move the Scullery's sink so it's "behind" the refrigerator /beverage area ... this'll keep your water lines all close together. This will be less expensive, and it'll give you fewer areas that can potentially leak. Though, honestly, I don't see the point in the second sink; I think it won't get much use, as it would require so much walking between these areas.

    - How will you use this Scullery area? I think I'd want more shelves /pantry-style rather than an extension of the kitchen cabinets. This is as big as some small kitchens and will cost as much as another kitchen.

    - Do you anticipate a freezer in the Scullery? If so, leave a spot.

    - Will the back door we see be your "everyday" entrance? Imagine you come in with groceries ... you'lll have to carry them the length of the kitchen to reach the Scullery. You get your bags into the Scullery -- where do you set them down as you sort /put away? This will get old. Ideally you want your food storage nearer the everyday entrance.

    - What's the pathway for garbage going out? You want it to be a short, direct route; first because taking out the garbage is always miserable; second because at some point your bag will break /leak.

    - I'd like to see a pocket door between the kitchen and the Scullery, which would allow you to close it off if you have a mess in there.

    - Where's your fire extinguisher?

    - Where are your spices stored?

    - Do you plan to have a microwave?

    - Have you planned a spot for your stand mixer?

    - Overall, I see where you're going with this plan, but I'd cut down the "pretty kitchen" space so it's not so many steps between everything -- with the Scullery you don't need tons of space in the main kitchen. And I'd rearrange so your storage is nearer your entrance. Those are your big issues.

I don't mind the idea of this. My one issue is the amount of countertop between the sink and stove. That is the most used piece of counter in the kitchen. The dw needs to move and it would be nice if that was 48" . Before going to your builder, you should get with a kitchen designer so you can see this 3d. What is the actual space you have to work with? Do you have blue prints?

Just because it seems to work on paper, doesn't mean it will look good.

This kitchen is is an L. The rectangle is obviously an island. And we don't need to know what you cook, just how many cooks there might be, and maybe how often you cook (family info would be helpful).

But the OP seems to be MIA. Perhaps she's already started construction...

Ah Mark, always ready with the insult, as usual. If the OP is Jewish, she should let us know

So not one response from the OP so who knows or cares for that matter at this point . BTW I spend hours with clients designing kitchens that work for how they cook and yes what they cook often This layout is a puzzle and darn weird L too
