Help designing my living room!

last month

I’m stuck on what I should do to make my space cozier and lived-in looking! I know I need a bigger rug, drapery (but what colour? And should I add Roman shades behind sofa?) swivel chair needs to be swapped out for 2 or maybe even 4 chairs- on either side of the table but will it look too crowded? Space is way too WHITE, is it worth repainting the built-ins or can I add warmth with furniture and accessories?

I should add… this is an open concept living room kitchen. Anything I add has to work with my very white kitchen as well!

You need to share many more pictures.

I am confused. Half of the pictures show a grey love seat and glass table and half show a wood table and swivel chair. What is actually in the room?

    @WestCoast Hopeful
I I know I’m sorry for that! I couldn’t find a picture of my built-ins so I added pictures from when the house was staged when we bought it! Sorry for the confusion! The one with the WHITE sofa is the current furniture. The one with the glass table is what the staggers put in.

You have space for a chair on either end of the coffee table, not white. Rug is fine but could be changed. It’s quite serene overall. You can easily add colour though. Depends on your tastes

Please re post all the current pictures as JPEGS!! Don't use screen shots, most pros are on a computer, not the phone, and we can't finger spread.

Take MORE pictures, from all the angles.

Add a measure drawing of the entire space,

Walls, windows etc, and open area in front of the kitchen kitchen included. ................space for more chairs? Yes a larger rug, how MUCH larger?

I need to see the whole space I see space where the dog is so more info . I cannot imagine 4 chairs in thta space unless you mean no sofa . I think you need color so is this the only space in your home for a TV ? Your need for drapes is a mystery for privacy or what ? Too much missing info really. THat TV has to go even if it is put above the cabinet where the shelves are with an articulating arm would be better but best not in that space would be perfect . I like the staged space better but not the loveseat . You have a door that opens to the patio it looks like so no blocking that IMO If a to scal eplan can be had we might understand the space better .I see the kitchen where is the DR?

The tv should be pushed closer to the wall. You have it right where the fireplace heat will rise and hit it.

Why is that TV pulled out so far? I can't see anything but that.

Either they did not like the answers or figured it out or just another disappearing OP

Not really what the OP asked about, but this is what I would do in this space if I wanted to watch TV in there.

Current situation: TV is way to high to view comfortably, even when extended and tilted from the wall mount.

I would have the built-in on the right side remodeled. Remove the the tall cabinet and and a few shelves to allow room for the TV to be placed here.

Then place an amazing piece of art over the fireplace.

The tv made be partially pulled out. It could come down lower. These arent great photos to begin with.

That type of mount doe not move down lower, but the screen can probably be tilted a few more degrees. Still too high for normal viewing.

I’d focus on layering texture and warmth rather. A rug with a subtle pattern or deeper colour will anchor the seating area without needing to be much larger. Swap the swivel for two accent chairs in a warm tone and add a large leafy plant to soften the corners. Sheer natural‑coloured drapes will warm the windows; if you need privacy, layer Roman shades behind them

While moving tv might be optimal it is unlikely most people would do this. It seems to be working for them as is.

    Cute space!

However, If TV stays as is, no point worrying about decor. TV hogs up the ambiance & space.

I believe that's why it doesn't feel cozy.

HOUZZ does have pics, with brilliant solutions.

If I understood how to share, ......
